Optional Practical Training Questionnaire
An August 2015 US District Court decision jeopardized the existing 17-month Optional Practical Training extension for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) students, potentially making it harder for international graduates of US graduate programs to stay and work in the US after graduation.  While most observers believe that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will maintain the existing rule, there is now an opportunity to expand it beyond the current 17-month extension.

In order for the Union to most effectively advocate for expansion of the rights of international students to stay and work in the US after graduation, it is important that we have feedback from as many people as possible about how the OPT program benefits international graduate students and how it could be improved.  Please answer the short set of questions below so that the UAW can advocate as strongly as possible for better opportunities for international graduate student workers.
