Overview of engagement as Medical Officer:
YHAI Volunteer ship is about giving an opportunity to experienced trekkers to gain real time experience working on live adventure projects and programmes. YHAI invites Medical officers to work in its National Level adventure expeditions, which are also recognized by the Government of India. We would like to invite medical practitioners from Govt. or Pvt. Sector to register with as Medical Officers and render voluntary services to the participants of National Himalayan Summer Trekking Expedition- 2015.

MEDICAL OFFICERS
YHAI needs Medical officers who will monitor and supervise the medical facilities of NATIONAL HIMALAYAN SUMMER TREKKING EXPEDITION 2015 and also manage logistics for successful completion of the programme. A total of about 7,500 participants participate in these adventure activities in the month of April, May and June. The participants in an average group of 50 assemble at the base camps and move to the next higher camps. The Medical officers deputed at each base camp and higher camps are required to manage the medical facilities, logistics, participant’s concerns and medical requirements to run the programme successfully. Participants who come to YHAI expeditions are educated people comprising of young people along with adventure enthusiasts ranging from age group of 18-65 years who take part in these expeditions for their love for nature and passion for adventure. Some of the main responsibilities for this position are:

• Work under the supervision of Field Director/Co-Directors.
• To be the administrative in-charge of the camp when posted to a higher camp and be generally responsible for day to day management of that camp.
• To maintain the reputation and standard of the expeditions as per standards of YHAI National Expeditions.
• To maintain discipline of the expedition; guide the participants about schedule, safety precautions, do’s and don’ts.
• In case of any eventuality/emergency take necessary and proper action - Crisis Management.
• Be very polite, humble and at the same time maintain strict discipline amongst the participants.
• To be generally responsible for the medical facilities at the base camp and ensure better facilities to the participant.
• Must be physically fit to undertake long and strenuous treks in the mountains as the Medical officer’s will deal with working at high altitude camps.
• Must be able to communicate with participants & cooks, helpers, porters and locals during the programmes.
 To provide daily and submit weekly report or reports at the end of the program to the Field Director.

ELIGIBILITY
Ø  PHYSICAL FIT PERSONS WHO WANT TO RENDER VOLUNTARY SERVICES TO SPEND THEIR VALUABLE TIME WITH THE NATURE AND ADVENTURE.
Ø  Persons who have successfully completed at least one/two National Himalayan Trekking Expeditions of YHAI.
Ø  Knowledge and experience of medical services in high altitude.

Experience:
Passion for adventure sports or preferably members who have completed National Himalayan Trekking Expeditions of YHAI or have participated in any of the trekking expeditions (especially Kullu -Manali).

Honorarium:
Following perks may be given to the Experienced Trekkers who render minimum required days service as a Camp Leader or Medical Officer in the National Expedition:
• Experienced Trekkers will be reimbursed as per norms. They have to submit a photocopy of their rail ticket for forward and return journeys for claiming the T.A.
• Incidental charges will be paid @ Rs.500/- up to every 1000 k.m. subject to a maximum of Rs. 1,250/- for both forward and return journeys.
• AC 3 tier train fare & Deluxe bus fare from Delhi / Dehradun to Mussoorie and back.
• Souvenirs after successful completion.
 
Certificate:
All the Experienced Trekkers who successfully complete their service with YHAI will get a certificate, which will give them an edge over others in their future prospects.

Application for Medical Officer
ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY AS A MEDICAL OFFICER
Please apply if you have the previous experience as a medical officer or have participated in any of the Trekking Expeditions (especially Kullu- Manali) and are willing to accept the following conditions:
1. The minimum period of service in the program is 21 or 14 days (case to case basis)
2. Applicant may be posted at any of the camps by the field director.
3. Applicant should be physically fit to undertake ling and strenuous treks in the mountains.
4. Applicant should be well- equipped to be posted at high altitude camps.
5. Applicant should be able to communicate with participants, cooks, helpers, porters and locals etc.
6. Incomplete forms will not be considered.
7. Photo copies of the participant’s certificate or testimonials may be asked later.
8. Selection of Camp Leaders/Medical Officers is done by a selection committee whose decision in the matter will be final and binding.

Important Note: Please note that in the interest of the organization, Adventures Promotion Committee can invite any members to render services as a camp Leader/ Co- director/ field Director and Director directly.
