What time is the project starting/ending? Can I arrive late or leave early?
Please arrive by 8:45am for registration and refreshments Once carpools enter the forest we lock the gate. We will wrap up and have you back to your car at 3:30pm. If you need to leave early you will have to ride your bike into the work area as the gate on the road will be locked. Please be sure to inform your crew leader if you will be leaving early.

Transportation *
We  strongly encourage you to ride your bike in to the project site after meeting at the Highland Parking Lot for registration, not only is this more fun than driving but reduces our mobilization time. We can shuttle your gear to and from work area. Make sure you register and check in with your crew leader before riding in to the project site. Carpooling will be an option for those who dont ride, weather permitting. If you are able, ride your bike. At the end of the day you will be able to ride all of the newly finished trail!
How should I dress? What should I bring?
Dress in layers and check the weather forcast. We will be working under trees in a mostly shaded environment on steep slopes. Wear sturdy boots or shoes (no sandals), long pants, and a long sleeved shirt. Shorts and short sleeves are not recommended. Bring a jacket or a raincoat if warranted. If you have work gloves please bring them but we have some to lend. If you have eye protection (clear or light lenses) please bring that. If you have your own hardhat we encourage you to bring that but have some to lend out (bike helmets ok too). Also bring water, a snack and a pack to carry things in. We provide tools, so no need to bring your own.
Where do I go? What is the meeting location?
We meet at the top of Hihn's Mill Road at 29400 Highland Way, Los Gatos, CA 95033. The roads are narrow and slow, so plan your travel time accordingly. There is a large dirt parking lot across the bridge and we will be checking in volunteers there, then carpooling into the forest to the trailwork location. Please do not leave valuables or bikes in or on your car as this is a remote area and breakins sometimes occur. Also note there is no cell phone reception at the parking lot, although there is cell coverage at the project location.
What if it rains?
Good question! We ask ourselves that for days leading up to the project and hope we can rely on the forecast.  In general we intend to only work in dry weather or very light rain because of the impact of driving in and out on the road when it is wet. Likewise we will cancel a project if there has been heavy rain in the days leading up to the project that has saturated the dirt. High winds -- with or without rain -- will cancel because of the hazards associated with "widow makers" in the forest. We will check the forecast and issue a cancellation notice as soon as we believe cancelling the project is necessary, and hopefully no later than 8:00pm the night before. We may require participants to walk or ride to the work site if road conditions are not suitable for driving. Please check your email before leaving in the morning in case there is some unforseen situation that requires us to cancel at the last minute.
What sort of hospitality is included?
We will have coffee, and morning snacks at registration. We will also provide a light lunch that you can carry with you on the trail. After the project there will be snacks and beverages back at the parking lot. Please BRING YOUR OWN CUP for coffee and/or beer. This will help us minimize our waste.
