Swimming Preparation
In order to participate in water activities at Ransburg Summer Camp and high adventure bases, all Scouts and Adult Leaders must first pass a swim test each year to determine swimming classification (swimmer, beginner, non-swimmer).

Elaine Kemna, Troop 109's swimming merit badge counselor, will be scheduling a session at the Fishers YMCA in April. Please complete this form by THURSDAY, MARCH 24 so she may determine each swimmer’s readiness for this test and any interest in preparation sessions.

CLASSIFICATIONS:
Beginners Test: Jump feet first into water over the head in depth. Level off and swim 25 feet on the surface. Stop, turn sharply, resume swimming and return to starting place.

Swimmers Test: Jump feet first into water over the head in depth. Level off and swim 75 yards in a strong manner using any one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy, resting backstroke. The 100 yard swim must be completed in one swim without stops and must include at least one sharp turn. After completing the swim, rest by floating.
