My name is Wendy Le and I am mentor with the “The Village Bloggurls”, a media-literacy and mentorship group for girl-identified people that addresses issues that are important to us as well as create art and media that reflects those issues.
One of them is the TTC Request Stop Program. I had an awful experience with my friend Amy in early Winter last year where a bus driver refused to let us off because it wasn't "after 9pm" when the Program goes into effect. This is despite the fact that in terms of when it gets dark, 6pm and 9pm are the same in the Winter time.
As stated on the TTC website, "The Request Stop program is available to all customers travelling alone by bus between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Request Stop allows any customer who is feeling vulnerable to get off the bus between regular TTC stops."
The purpose of this survey is to gather information about people like me who have experienced what I have. My goal is to bring awareness to this issue, informing city Councillors, key stakeholders, and YOU that this matters to the safety of young women like me. Hopefully, the issue can be pushed to the forefront as it affects so many people. Please complete this survey and share it with everyone you know. Thank you for your time.
