Call for Session Presentation Proposals

The Texas STEM Coalition invites you to submit a proposal to present at The 9th Annual Texas STEM Conference. Proposals will be screened and selected by a committee. Sessions are either 45 minutes or 90 minutes in length. A very limited number of sessions will qualify for the extended time allotments. Over 700 attendees are expected to participate in this 3-day event.

CONFERENCE DATE: January 21-23, 2016

THEME: Inspire, Innovate, Integrate! STEM Education for the Future

LOCATION: Omni San Antonio Hotel at the Colonnade

You may submit multiple proposals. You MUST complete a new form for EACH proposal. Presentation rooms will be equipped with screen and projector. Any computers, adapters or special software are the responsibility of the presenter. Unless you are an exhibitor (see below), all conference sessions are non-commercial and will not promote/endorse a product or service.

ALL PROPOSALS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 11:59 pm, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13.

Exhibitor workshops are available and provide an opportunity for exhibiting companies to promote and/or sell a product and/or service. There is a limit of one workshop per company and it costs $500. All other conference sessions are non-commercial and will not promote/endorse a product or service.

2016 THEME: Inspire, Innovate, Integrate! STEM Education for the Future

BLUEPRINT FOR BUILDING A STEM PROGRAM: STEM Leaders share best practices for designing or enhancing STEM pathways. This leads students to move successfully from the K-12 setting to the workforce. Sessions in this strand may address topics such as the T-STEM Blueprint, House Bill 5, endorsements, leadership, curriculum design, and STEM culture.

COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS: How do we prepare students for a successful transition to all postsecondary options? Counselors, Career and Technical Education leaders, Curriculum Directors, and College and Career Readiness specialists discuss what works in preparing students for all postsecondary options. Sessions may address topics such as reaching College and Career Readiness standards, postsecondary counseling, 21st century learning and thinking, workforce/career exploration, and meaningful capstone projects.

TECHNOLOGY: How does technology inspire students to be innovative? Explore how 21st century educators inspire innovation in student learning with the "T" in STEM. This strand explores how to integrate, innovate and inspire learning and teaching with real world application and experiences with technology to connect classroom experiences to the workforce realities.

COLLABORATING WITH COMMUNITY AND INDUSTRY: How can we engage the community and industry in our STEM classrooms and culture? Examine how successful partnerships with K-12, community, industry, and higher education can engage and inspire educators and students with relevant STEM experiences. Sessions may address topics such as building advisory partnerships, successful partnership experiences, career awareness opportunities, internships, externships, job shadowing, mentorship, engaging a public audience, and workforce partnerships.
