Columbia University’s Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) offers all first-year incoming students the opportunity to participate in the Columbia Mentoring Initiative (CMI), an inter-generational mentorship program that connects first year students with returning students, and all students with alumni.
This program was formed to create a community of traditionally underrepresented students including Arab & Middle Eastern, Asian, Black, Indigenous, International, Latinx, LGBTQ, and Multi-Racial.
There is no minimum time requirement to join the program--Select the activities you want to participate in and receive access to a support network that is dedicated to your success at Columbia. Mentees can participate in the following ways:
*Mentor Match: Connect with an experienced mentor for one-on-one support
*Mix & Mingle: Attend dinner discussions and get to know alumni as they share their stories of success
*Social Events: Participate in fun (free) activities that bring together students from across all family trees
In CMI, you will be part of a network of first years, experienced returning students, and alumni with a wealth of knowledge about life on and off campus, as well as resources of all kinds. Bond with an experienced mentor, create long-lasting relationships with your fellow CMI first years, learn about life after Columbia in our career-oriented dinners, and gain support from your classmates as you participate in discussions about the intersections of identities.
The mentee application priority deadline is Wednesday, September 21st, 2016 by 11:59pm.
