On Sunday 24th July, we'll take an afternoon jaunt down to Essex to see "the nice Stansted", home of Mountfitchet Castle -- a preserved and restored Norman motte & bailey castle, with Norman village and (not least) its own toy museum!
http://www.mountfitchetcastle.com/We'll meet at Cambridge railway station at 11.30am, for the 11.51 train (31-minute journey). Signing up will be very helpful for gauging numbers, but is not essential. Train fare will be about £7; admission is £10.50 (or £8.50 for children aged 3--13). Please bring cash to ease payment.
This trip suits all ages! Feel free to make your own way there if you'd rather. Return timing will be flexible. For the grown-ups, there may be a chance to sample a rural ale house later in the afternoon.
