Learning Assistant Student Application: due Nov. 20, 2015
This form is for both NEW and RETURNING LAs - please make sure to answer all questions before submission.
New Learning Assistants (NLAs), in addition to the required work outlined by your faculty course mentor, are required to attend a weekly LA seminar (1hr) during the first semester of their service. If students are unable to attend due to course conflicts - this requirement may be suspended by the LA Accelerator Program on an individual basis for 1 semester ONLY.
Returning Learning Assistants (RLAs), in addition to the required work outlined by your faculty course mentor, must complete volunteer hours during the semester at one or more of our STEM outreach activities as well as attend 2 or more Discipline-Based Educational Research Seminars.
Both NLAs and RLAs must be up to date with Sexual Harassment Prevention Training. Since your position as a LA is considered a supervisory position - this training must be FACE TO FACE the first time of training and subsequent training may be completed online. All NLAs will receive this training in the LA seminar.
