This form is for self-published/hybrid crime fiction authors wishing to apply to be one of four panelists at Bristol CrimeFest, 9th- 12th May 2024.

The title of the panel is ‘The Indie Alternative,’ with the aim of bringing quality crime authors to the attention of avid readers.

Given the reputation of self-publishing, it is critical that the authors and books chosen are the best of the best, and although your book might be amazing, we cannot accommodate everyone. Standards of professionalism are critical and the following questions will help us in assessment. You will be considered if you have had traditionally published books before, but we will favour new authors.

The deadline for submission is 30 November, 2023. The final decision on the panel will be made by a self-published author in conjunction with Bristol CrimeFest organizers. If picked, you will be notified by 31 January, 2024. If you don’t hear back by then, please assume you have not been chosen.

There are no speaker fees/expenses paid for the event, and authors will also need to buy a Full Weekend CrimeFest pass to the event (as do the traditionally published authors on the other panels). The benefit to you is to be in front of (hopefully) several hundred readers at an established literary festival and the connections you can make by networking with other authors.
