My name is Mike Wise. My family has been affected by diabetes for many years. From a family of five my mother and I are the only two without diabetes (yet). My brother and sister were both diagnosed in middle school while Dad was later in life. So I wanted to do something to support them and everyone else who deals with this disease on a daily basis. I started walking in the American Diabetes Association (ADA) event in Mankato. For the past nine years this event has been great and we've raised close to $50,000. I've always thought about getting an event going in New Ulm so this year I contacted some community members I thought would be interested in an event like this and we are going to give it a go.

Our goal is to create a fundraising event in New Ulm to support the research for a cure to diabetes. Please complete form to learn more. Your information will be confidential and will not be shared with any outside parties.

The event is planned for Saturday October 10th from 8am to 12pm. We will have a walk around the fairgrounds and then a couple short educational seminars inside civic center following. Our proceeds will be donated to the Minnesota Lions Diabetes Foundation. This is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is committed to support the University of Minnesota and their research to cure diabetes.
