Each year AFLTA accepts applications for awards to recognize outstanding achievement in excellence and for improving foreign language education in the state. The McAlpine Award for Outstanding World Language Student Teacher is presented to a pre-service teacher or intern who is (1) a student teacher in either the fall semester of the Annual Conference or the previous spring semester, (2) nominated by a college or university faculty member charged with oversight of World Language student teachers, and (3) either an undergraduate or graduate student.
Applications are accepted from AFLTA members only, and must be received by SEPTEMBER 1 of each year. The President-Elect or Past President, along with a committee of AFLTA members, will review the applicants and those chosen to receive the awards will be recognized at the AFLTA Annual Conference, where they will receive their respective award at the annual meeting.
All AFLTA members are encouraged to review possible candidates and submit a nomination in their behalf! Be sure to review the Nomination Procedure found here -
