The weather is starting to turn, well the snow melted. :-) Soon the kids will be ready to go outside and run around after school. Does your Falcon have any interest in learning how to throw or catch a football? Do they love playing football in the neighborhood? Do they want to learn the basics of the game? Do you just want them to have something fun to do after school so you can have a break? Well, Fairview is now offering an After School Football program.
Our program focuses on the basics of football. It works for kids with no experience or many years of experience. Even the pros practice the basics every day. We will divide the kids into groups of similar skill and age. The program will be held on the fields outside, unless the weather is bad, then we may move into the gym. We ask that your child wear athletic clothing and tennis shoes. We will supply all the equipment they need. Please DO NOT bring footballs to the program, they may get lost or forgotten. Keep them at home so they can play with them there :-)
The program will use K2/PeeWee size footballs, flags and other training aids to teach your child the proper ways to play football in a fun collaborative environment. We will teach proper mechanics in throwing and catching the football as well as basic football techniques.
Most of the coaches that will assist have coached several years with Braddock Road Youth Club or other local football leagues. Many of these coaches are parents of children at Fairview. Brandon Smith will lead the program. Brandon is a USA Football Certified coach and currently coaches High School football. He has also coached Youth and All Star football teams in the Northern VA area.
The plan will be to start Tuesday April 14th and run 5 weeks. If we have an overwhelming interest we make break it into 2 sessions by grade.
The cost of the program will depend on the number of sessions/participants. We anticipate $25 per participant based on previous enrollments.
We the sessions will be from 3:50pm - 5:00pm.
Each participant will receive a program t-shirt.
Payment can be made via check to Fairview PTA ($25). Have your player either give it to their teacher in an envelop marked "PTA After School Football" or bring it to their first session.
