JPR Asks You: What about the wage?
The Oregon Senate is expected to vote this week on increasing the state's minimum wage, currently $9.25/hr. Proposed legislation seeks incremental bumps until 2022, when the base wage would hit $13.50, unless you live in Portland or in a rural area. Lawmakers propose setting rural wages $1 below the base wage, and the Portland wage $1.25 above the base wage.

What do you think of establishing a "tiered" minimum wage, whereby employers in Portland are required to pay workers more than employers in rural areas?
