The LiveWell Lawrence coalition consists of more than 150 members serving on the Executive Team, Leadership Team and five work groups. Work groups include Healthy Built Environment, Healthy Food for All, Healthy Kids, Tobacco-Free Living and WorkWell Lawrence.

Healthy Built Environment -- Promotes active lifestyles by working with policymakers to increase and improve trails, sidewalks, public transit, parks and other community resources. Built environment refers to the human-made surroundings that provide the setting for activity, ranging from buildings and parks to neighborhood streets and transportation systems.

Healthy Food for All -- Supports policy and system changes to enhance access to healthy foods in Douglas County. The work group welcomes participation from individuals and organizations interested in and affected by food insecurity in Douglas County and works to develop systems that make fresh, healthy food more accessible to families.

Healthy Kids -- Promotes wellness in early childhood programs, schools, after-school programs and other institutional settings interested in the development of healthy, active children. The group promotes walking to school and participation in marathon clubs, enhancing physical education and integration of active movement into classroom activities and supporting school and community gardens to influence nutrition education.

Tobacco-Free Living -- Develops and expands public support for system changes that transform community values around tobacco. The group provides oversight to and collaborates with the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department to support tobacco control and prevention efforts through the Chronic Disease Risk Reduction program.

WorkWell Lawrence -- Promotes wellness policies and practices in workplaces with a focus on physical activity, nutrition and tobacco use. WorkWell welcomes participation from employers, human resources and worksite wellness professionals interested in improving the health of workers in Douglas County.
