Steps to reserve a Service Workday for your Volunteer Group:
1.) Designate a Primary Contact person to communicate details with our staff prior to the Service Workday and a Day-of Group Leader who will attend and serve as our main contact the day of the Service Workday. The Primary Contact and Day-of Group Leader may be the same or a different person. These contact persons must provide reliable contact information to our staff, be available to discuss terms beforehand, and commit to communicating in a timely manner all pertinent information to each individual in your group.
2.) Fill out the Volunteer Group application found below and send it in to us.
3.) Once we receive your application, we will contact you to let you know if we can accommodate your group on one of your requested dates. This will also be an opportunity for you to ask us any additional questions.
4.) After we have confirmed a date and rain date with you, we ask for full payment (non-refundable) of the requested tax-deductible contribution of $500. This donation may be made via check or online – we will provide payment details.
5.) Upon receipt of donation, BAG staff will send your Contact Person and Day-of Group Leader the online link for volunteers to sign up for your scheduled Service Workday. Members of your group (including the Day-of Group Leader) must register with our online system and sign up for the Service Workday to be placed on the workday roster. This online sign-up system will allow us to ensure that the proper amount of volunteers attend the workday and is required for insurance and liability services. There is also a Liability Waiver that each volunteer must agree to online.
6.) One week before your scheduled Service Workday, we will contact you to:
        a.    Provide an exact address and directions to the worksite location of the Service Workday;
        b.    Provide details of the activity, which may consist of harvesting, sorting, and/or washing of produce (this will depend on many factors, including your group size);
        c.    Determine if cancellation of the Service Workday is at risk due to crop and/or weather conditions, and if it can be moved to the established rain date;
        d.    Determine a definite number of participants from your group that will attend the Service Workday so that we are able to invite our individual volunteers to join if we need more hands to complete the day’s task (the minimum is 6 confirmed participants from your group; if this minimum is not met, we reserve the right to cancel the Service Workday for your group);
        e.    Work out any other specific details, including what to wear and what to bring, and answer any questions before the Service Workday.
         f.    NOTE: The Day-of Group Leader is required to be present for this conversation.
