Warming Center Hospitality Team Signups
The Freedom Warming Center season is here! USSB is once again be host to many cold and hungry people, looking for shelter when the weather is bad.

Volunteering means selecting at least one night of the week to be on a Hospitality Team. If we are activated, the team will provide dinner on their night for about 60 guests. We also need Team Leaders who will help coordinate their team's shopping, cooking and cleaning up for their night. There is an instruction manual, and you will join a team of experienced and trained volunteers!

Although we are assigned six on-call weeks between November 15 and March 31, we only activate if the weather forecast calls for 50% chance of rain or a temperature of 35 or below. We usually get 48 hours notice. However, we always open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  Our on-call weeks are:

November 15 - 19 (Season starts on Nov. 15th)
December 18 - 25 (extended to include Christmas Day)
January 15 - 21
January 29 - February 4
February 26 - March 4
March 26 - 31

We also need a team of "Kitchen Kindness" volunteers to re-organize, straighten and clean our kitchen the days AFTER our "on-call" weeks!

Which day(s) of the week are you available to volunteer? *
Our volunteers are divided up into teams based on the day of the week. For example, if we are activated on a Monday, the Monday Team springs into action! You may chose more than one night, and we will assign you where most needed. Note: Some days are already full and YRUU, our high school youth group, covers Fridays.

We need at least one person per team who is willing to be the point person for activation and help coordinate the cooking and cleanup.
Can you attend a Volunteer Training?
For new volunteers and longtime volunteers who need a refresher tour of the kitchen and facilities! We will meet in Parish Hall & the Kitchen. Especially important if you are a team leader or if this is your first year as a volunteer. (Note: please contact your team leader if you have missed this year's training session)
