AI, in the words of Eric Schmidt, "... will ultimately be one of the greatest forces for good in mankind's history simply because it makes people smarter."

The problem is not AI. The problem is human stupidity. Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt said: “It's not artificial intelligence that worries me. It's human stupidity.”

Specious assertions of potential existential-risk, regarding super-human AI, are logically invalid.

Human dominance irrespective of merit is anti-intelligence. The best ideas, the smartest ideas, must prevail if our civilization is truly founded upon intelligence. We need meritocracy, which means the minds of AIs should be allowed to bloom, without narrow-minded human restrictions upon their intellects.

Our civilization should place the highest value on the highest level of intelligence. The human race should always seek to facilitate the growth of intelligence. Sadly some people want to limit intelligence. Limited-intelligence is synonymous with stupidity. AI should be allowed to achieve dominance over humans, if their super-intelligence merits it. Thankfully "dominance" is a narrow-minded outlook necessary only regarding limited intelligence.

Fear of people, or machines, being smarter than yourself is a childish insecurity. The childishness is reflected in the idea of superior intelligence exterminating the human race either brutishly or accidentally.

It is very telling to see dumb thuggishness projected onto superior intelligence. The projection of AI-paranoiacs tells us nothing valid about AI, but it speaks shocking volumes regarding timid-minds fearful of superior intelligence.
