CHICAGO ALUMNAE ASSOCIATION TRADITIONAL SONG AWARD/ NORTHEASTERN NEBRASKA ALUMNAE ASSOCIATION CONTEMPORARY SONG AWARD APPLICATION
PURPOSE: This award is given to recognize the chapter or alumnae association that has best encouraged and participated in the singing that has always been a part of Theta Phi Alpha’s heritage.
BACKGROUND: The Chicago Area Alumnae Association initiated this award in 1986 to preserve this great tradition of song. In 1998, the Northeastern Nebraska Alumnae Association proposed the addition of a second song award to provide recognition in two categories.
• Chicago Area Alumnae Association Traditional Song Award (i.e., serious, ritual-type song).
• Northeastern Nebraska Alumnae Association Contemporary Song Award (i.e., upbeat, fun, recruitment type song).
