Many quality problems, including supplier issues, have root causes related to poor metrology or requirements definition (Operational Definitions).  This presentation will cover the basic elements of precision assessment using Gage R&R evaluation.  A connection between Gage R&R metrics, process metrics, and misclassification probability shall be explored as well.

Jason McElroy has been a medical device quality engineer for over 18 years, and currently works for Medtronic.  His primary duties involve pre-production design quality, including risk management, design development and optimization, design verification and process validation master planning, test method validation, and statistics for validation and routine sampling.  Jason also conducts internal training on Statistics and Root Cause Analysis.  Jason is a member of ASQ and a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
