Nanoscience talk - Oxford
You probably know ‘nano’ means very small. But why is that interesting? Alexandra Grigore and Tarun Vemulkar, both PhD students at 'the other place', will talk about their experience working in this multidisciplinary field and what the future could hold for someone working in the area. Things that they will talk about will include DNA origami and nanopores for faster genetic sequencing, nanomagnetic devices, photonic structures in butterfly wings, latest solar cell technologies, 3D metamaterials and more. The breadth and depth of science that may be explored in the field of nanotechnology is limitless, so this is a chance for you to get a feel for the state of the art and see where your interests fit in. And for those of you considering taking up PhDs, feel free to ask them questions about their interdisciplinary 4 year MRes + PhD programme at the Nano Doctoral Training Centre (NanoDTC), in addition to your other questions about nanotechnology.
