ESims Secretariat Application
Dear applicant,

Firstly, thank you for applying to the Secretariat for the Educational Simulations (ESims) Conference Series! ESims has been consistently expanding for years, and I believe that with a great Secretariat, the conference will only grow bigger and better as the year goes on!

Secondly, I would like to congratulate you on your decision to apply to the ESims Secretariat. While we are the smallest secretariat, we are undoubtedly also the most beneficial to students in the New York City area, especially those who attend under-resourced schools without the financial ability to send them to large scale conferences that we have become accustomed to. It takes a team of truly spectacular people with a fantastic vision to create the ESims that I know and love.

Moving on, the application for ESims Secretariat consists of two steps: the first step being the application itself, composed of a few questions, and the second step being an interview with myself, the Secretary-General, and our Director General. Please do note that being on the ESims Secretariat is a year-long commitment from Spring 2015 to Fall 2015, meaning that there will be two conferences that you will be responsible for.

As the USG of Recruitment, what ideas do you have for expanding ESims to a greater number of schools throughout the NYC community?
USG of Recruitment
Phone calls can be the boon or the bane of your position. So can e-mails. However, a communicative person should have an easy ride talking to so many different people and explaining very clearly our goals and purposes. Please give an example of an email that you may send to potential advisors about ESims.

Operations is, in essence, an all encompassing position that requires a lot of creativity and flexibility, so tell us what you would do in this situation: It's 10pm the night before a conference. You forgot to print out the placards the week before and haven't even ordered them yet. The Secretariat just realized that there are no gavels. There is no template for awards yet (not to mention that they need to be printed out the day of). And, most important of all, the room for Closing Ceremonies might not even be open and there's no where else to go. The conference starts at 9am sharp and ends with Closing, starting at 5pm. What do you do?
USG of Operations
Given your experience with ESims and with past conferences, what would be your priorities as the USG of Operations?
USG of Operations
ESims often targets students with little to no Model UN experience. Given this aspect of ESims, how would you structure a committee to for a mix of students with some to no prior experience in MUN?
