“She does have an accent but…”: Combatting Linguistic Bias

A recent study of anonymous reviews on Ratemyprofessor.com found that students often express linguistic bias against teachers who are non-native English speakers, citing language as a problem or barrier, while at the same time refusing to take responsibility for communication difficulties. In this informal discussion, participants will share frustrating experiences and learn helpful strategies.
