Celebrating the UNESCO International Year of Light!

The University of Reading invites students from our local Widening Participation schools to attend a one day festival packed with inspirational workshops around the topic of Light! This workshop is free of charge and we welcome groups of Y9 students and their teachers (limited to maximum of 20 students per school) to attend it!

The day will run from 9:30 until 15:30 and students are invited to take part in a set of four workshops around the topic of light:

- Light sculptures - Arts workshop
- Photo-Florescent materials - chemistry workshop
- Stars & Stories around the camp fire - languages workshop
- Light spectra - physics workshop

Spaces are limited and we will give priority to neighbouring schools with high widening participation indicators such as free school meal, pupils premium, low participating neighbourhoods with HE, amongst others.
We require a deposit of £50 (cheque, addressed to the University of Reading) which will be fully refunded upon attendance on the day of the workshop.

Professional photographs will be taken during the evening, an electronic copy of these will be sent to the school and student. Any objections or restrictions on the use of these photos should be written bellow , in advance of the event.
