GC: Houston Secretariat Application 2017
By filling out this form you understand the responsibilities that come with staffing a GC conference. This is the first step in becoming a secretariat member of GC: Houston 2017. Selected applicants will be notified in the first week of January. Interviews will be held in the last week of November, if necessary.

Important Dates:
January 28: Secretariat Training @University of Houston Downtown 8:30 am-12pm
February 18: DRW @ University of Houston Downtown (Required for all staff) 8am-12pm
March 11: Secretariat Training @ University of Houston Downtown 8:30 am
April 21: Arrive at the hotel for logistics training at 6pm (Required for all staff)
April 22: Conference at University of Houston Downtown Campus, Houston (Saturday) 8am - 4pm

*All secretariat members are required to attend the DRW and at least 1 Secretariat Training before conference.

Committees and Topics for 2017
Committees will be the same for both MS and HS, Except HS will also have crisis in their SC.

Specific information on each topic and background guides will be sent out at a later date.
Conference Positions
There are various positions which need to be filled during conference. Here are a list of those positions and a brief description if you are unfamiliar with them.

Chair: The Chair is responsible for facilitating all of the committee's proceedings by following Global Classrooms' Model UN rules of procedure, ruling on points and motions, keeping time, ensuring that the students have a lively debate

Director: The Director is responsible for overseeing the entire resolution process and approving draft resolutions. He or she must make sure that delegates are writing resolutions in the proper format and staying in character. In addition, the Director moderates proceedings when deemed necessary by the Chair.

Assistant Director: Assistant directors will work closely with the Director to ensure every student understands the proper way to write resolutions. He or she will assist the Director in whatever means necessary during conference.

Rapporteur: The Rapporteur is responsible for keeping the committee in order by maintaining the speakers' list, calling roll, and tracking all resolutions and votes. In addition, the Rapporteur is responsible for communications between the dais and the OSG.

Crisis Director: responsible for overseeing the creation and development of the crisis for specific Security Council simulations. Crisis Director will coordinate between the dais staff and crisis personnel on committee progress.

Crisis Staff: is responsible for assisting the Crisis Director for creation, organization, and the facilitation of the crisis. Their duties will include the writing of briefing papers and serving as home governments.

Conference Advisors: CAs make conference happen. They are responsible for running Conference Services and working with the USG of Conference Services to produce committee materials. They will serve as runners throughout conference.
