PGMBC Refugee Sponsorship Project Signup
A global refugee crisis is going on right now. Millions of families have had to flee their homes due to war, persecution, or torture. Lord have mercy! Out of these a select few will have the chance to settle in a safe, prosperous country like Canada. But even after they arrive, they will still need lots of help to integrate into their new society, to have the opportunity to rebuild their lives in a foreign land.
In this difficult time, Pacific Grace MB Church believes that, since as Christians, our Lord gave us a mandate to love and welcome the foreigner (Luke 10:25-37), and since we live in a wealthy country with adequate resources and whose government is seeking sponsors for refugees, we have both a call to support refugees and the means to do it.
Our church has agreed to sponsor a refugee family from Syria, welcoming them to Canada and helping care for them in their first year. This project was approved at a congregational meeting on February 28, 2016, and the refugee family will be arriving in June 2017. Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a sponsorship agreement holder with the government, will be providing support and oversight of the project.
As a member of the church, there are several ways you can help out with this project:
- Giving your time by volunteering to care for a certain aspect of the refugee family's needs
- Giving financially
- Remembering the refugee family in your prayers

Can't commit? Don't have much time? Don't worry - just fill out the form anyways and let us know in the comments box at the end if you're only available at certain times or have any other concerns.
Have no experience? We're not asking for it. Most of us on the refugee committee don't have any experience in social work or refugee resettlement either, and that's not stopping us.
You can only give a little? Perfect. Every little bit of help counts for a family who needs it.
