KIDSCAN Junior Board of Directors Application
The mission of KIDSCAN is to further the purpose of CAN. (1) Raise money for college scholarships to local high school graduating seniors who are battling cancer or who have a member of the family with cancer; (2) Assist CAN in its mission and fundraising endeavors and support CAN in its annual holiday parties and family retreats by working with the children. Please fill out the application below to be considered for becoming a member of the KIDSCAN Junior Board of Directors. By completing this form, you understand that there will be meetings once a month plus time working on fundraising activities in which you will be expected to participate for the benefit of children with cancer or children of parents or siblings dealing with cancer. Junior board members may remain on the board until high school graduation. A 50% attendance is required at meetings and activities. Community Service credit will be given for every hour of participation. KIDSCAN is part of the Cancer Alliance of Naples, a 501(c)3 charity.
All applicants must be students in a Collier County high school. No siblings may serve on the KIDSCAN Junior Board of Directors at the same time. No child of a CAN Board Member or Employee may serve as a member of the Junior Board of Directors. There are no restrictions to being a KIDSCAN volunteer, attending open board meetings, co-chairing committees and participating in events.
If selected as a KIDSCAN Junior Board member, you will be working around sick children and adults. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited. If you are selected, you will also be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. Diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of a child’s cancer are often not what parents of these children wish to be made known either to the child or the public. You may also know someone in your school whom CAN is helping. This, too, must remain confidential. Once references are checked, you will be contacted. This application will be kept confidential and placed on file at the office of the Cancer Alliance of Naples.
