Cell tower placement has been controversial at times on the Boothbay peninsula, but a new Cingular Wireless/AT&T tower proposed off Route 27 in Edgecomb did not raise a single objection at the June 19 Edgecomb Planning Board meeting.

The board approved the proposal unanimously.

The approved 100-foot monopole tower with multiple antennae will be sited on a 100 by 100-foot leased area at 491 Boothbay Road.

A generator will also be installed within the lease area, as well as a noise barrier.
