I got this anthology in exchange for an honest review. This is not for anyone who likes or needs whole stories. While some of the stories are short and have some kind of ending, several leave you hanging to some degree. It’s just enough to make you want to find out if there are whole stories containing some of these characters. Like most of the anthologies I’ve read, some are authors I’m already familiar with while others are not. Some of the stories have other loosely connected parts within other Naughty Nights Press Anthologies. While I liked it and found it to be a very quick read, if you have a strong dislike for cliffhangers or for incomplete stories, you should probably pass this one by in favor of a story or series by one or more of the featured authors.
SHORT, SWEET, AND SPOOKTACULARLY ENTERTAINING !!!! Title: A Wicked Affair Authors: Multiple Designation: A Paranormal Romance Box Set of Ten Introductory Short Stories My Rating: Five Spook-tacular Stars***** Wow! I adore box sets especially when it includes a collection of ten short stories by ten very talented authors to introduce the stories in the upcoming companion release of A Wicked Halloween. This collection may not be the full ten-course meal, but it is quite the tasty appetizer and includes an abundance of Witches, Vampires, Ghosts, Shifters and more! Anyone having read my reviews in the past knows how much I truly adore box sets and anthologies, so it should come as no surprise that I love A Wicked Affair, but there are several reasons why I would recommend this collection. First, it not only gives me the opportunity to read the work of some of my favorite paranormal authors including Phoenix Johnson, Gina Kincade, Erzabet Bishop, C.E. Black, and Gwen Knight, but also allows me to sample the writing style of several new-to-me authors whom I've been itching to try like Kiki Howell, Debbie Herbert, Angelica Dawson, Elizabeth Reeves and Hope Welsh. Second, it allows me to take a sneak peek at the stories to be included in the upcoming A Wicked Halloween Box Set releasing October 4, 2016. I can then determine if it's a collection I want to add to my library and it is! I've already pre-ordered my copy! Yup, I've read all the stories in this set and loved them all! Granted, these are NOT full-length novels but they are short stories, or as I like to call them, tasty appetizers to introduce the main course. And last but not least, it's a real bargain! I don't know about you, but I'm always on the lookout for a way to get more bang for my buck, and a box set is a perfect way to sample multiple authors for one low price. What did I like about this collection? Pretty much everything! They're all well crafted, entertaining, and beautifully written with unique storylines, engaging characters and perfect introductions for the novellas to follow in A Wicked Halloween. And it doesn't hurt that they're also a little spooky. There's nothing I enjoy more than a few thrills, chills and things that go bump in the night! Would I recommend it? You bet! These are entertaining shorts with a beginning, middle and end to introduce you to the stories included in A Wicked Halloween. But again, please be forewarned, if you're looking for standalone full-length novellas, this is not the collection for you. However, if you're looking for a quick, fun magical sampler, you're in luck and this set is definitely calling your name! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome collection of stories!
This is a wonderful collection of short stories that will whet your appetite for the bigger box set that is yet to come.
Masked and Beautiful - Gwen Knight Oh, the humanity of such a tease! Such a brief look at is surely going to be an excellent story. It has all the right markers. I can't wait!
Love in the Stacks - Debbie Herbert Debbie Herbert is excellent at writing young romance with a paranormal twist. his story is sure to be a good one in the next set.
Map of Bones - Erzabet Bishop Love the sparks between the two and the continuation of the story that was started in the Vampire Bites Box set. This was a great, quick read.
A Witch's Desire - C.E. Black A seriously hot tale that gets right to the point. Watch this one cause you may just get burned from the heat of it!
Into the Ether - Angelica Dawson Kind of dark and sad a little confusing.
Caught Under the October Moon - Kiki Howell and Gina Kincade A quick tale of lust and romance under the full moon.
So it Begins (So Mote it Be: A Prequel) - Phoenix Johnson A witch scorned hmm. This story sets up a great plot for what is surely to be an interesting story to come.
Sweet for Salem - Elizabeth A. Reeves What an exciting adventure. I'd love to be this kind of traveler.
Pademonium's Keeper - Hope Welsh An interesting take on demons and angels. Can't wait to read the next story.
These are very short stories featuring paranormal characters around Halloween. They are bite size and very quick to read. There are some great authors included and it gives you a chance to check out their style. They were all new to me.
I enjoyed the ones with romance at the heart the most. I really liked Love in the Stacks by Debbie Herbert. Pandemonium’s Keeper by Hope Welsh was a story of true love but so sad.
WOW!! What a WICKED collection of stories from this FANGTACULAR group of authors!! I was going to say something about each of them, but I changed my mind when I found myself saying pretty much the same thing for each story!! Like it says “Each short story is original and all are a prelude to the full-length books in the second part of the series, A Wicked Halloween.” I loved EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. and REALLY need to read more from them NOW!! Please. ;) While I know they called this collection “A Wicked Affair”, to me it is more like A Wicked One-Night stand!! It is short, sweet, spicy and one helluva time you NEVER forget!! This has done an exceptional job in wetting my pa.. *ahem* I mean, whetting my appetite for the full commitment!! Or as this FANGNOMENAL collection of authors & NNP call it - A Wicked Halloween!! So get ready for A Wicked Affair because you haven't seen nothing yet! And I for one cannot wait to be swept away to Salem!
The prequels to a boxset set to be released around October, each story gives the reader a just taste of something bigger. While each story is complete with no cliffhangers, they leave you hungry for more. It’s like going to Baskin Robbins and sampling the ice cream before deciding what scoops you actually want.
Each story is different as well. Some focus on romance while other focus of the paranormal world. Some are more lighthearted while others are serious, and a little sad. But each is well-written and interesting in their own way. If you don’t like a story, move to the next. There is surely a story you will find that you like. Especially if you are looking for good classic paranormal stories.
Overall, this is a good boxset to read if you are on the fence about wanting the Wicked Halloween boxset.
A excellent selection of short stories that are set in Salem on All Hallows Eve by a varied of authors.
All stories are complete from start to finish but are a shorter version of what is to be had when a full box set is released. You experience all kinds of interesting creatures with stories that range from sweet to sizzling with lust and even one I found to be extremely sad.
These are sure to tease and having you wanting more.
I love these type of short novella's that give you a taste of different authors and what you may like and not in their genre. A low price to pay for a spellbinding discovery.
I am going to leave a short review for each short story. I feel they each deserve praise of their own.
Masked and Beautiful by Gwen Knight - I was completely sucked in. I have to know what will happen with all the girls. Riley and Dawson are intriguing and promise for a nice side or follow up romance. But Lexi and "Jack"! So much angst, emotions all over thr place already. This full story is going to be sooo good!
Love in the Stacks by Debbie Herbert - This story is bound to be amazing. Salem, witchcraft, and Breck, the sexy librarian hunk, yes please! I cannot wait to see how Priscilla's story plays out. Who is Breck and what does he want with her? Is she destined to be someone important in their world?
Map of Bones by Erzabet Bishop A Curse Worker Short - HOT. But then, Damien is a lust demon, so no surprise there. But, whew! I need more.
A Witch's Desire by C.E. Black - A quick, hot, sweet read. I was completely entranced by the chemistry between Shell and James.
Into The Ether by Angelica Dawson - This story starts off a bit crazy and sad. I am eager to know what happens with Geoffrey. I have never read a book that had a ghost as the romantic interest, so I am very excited to see how this story goes.
Caught Under the October Moon by Kiki Howell & Gina Kincade - Brianna and Mitch are sure to provide a hot read. I can't wait to see how being Wiccan plays into the story.
So It Begins (So Mote It Be: A Prequel) by Phoenix Johnson - have to have more now! I need to know exactly what happened with Caleb (though i have a suspicion). And Siobhan. She's got to be our future heroine. I cannot wait to get her story!!
Sweet for Salem by Elizabeth A. Reeves - A sweet story that will no doubt lead into an amazing journey. Totally different from what I expected and completely refreshing.
Pandemonium's Keeper by Hope Welsh - Pandemonium's Keeper has me eager to read all of Hope Welsh's Karma's Witches books. Micah's story cant come soon enough, but I now need to know Devon's story. I immediately went hunting for his book and discovered the Karma's Witches series and had to get the first book. I cannot wait to begin Life's a Witch and work my way on to Devon's book.
This set is a set of prequels to compliment the stories in the Wicked Halloween box set (coming out in October). These are all great short stories revolving around All Hallows Eve in Salem and really have me interested in the longer books in the Wicked Halloween set! Masked and Beautiful—Gwen Knight: Empath Lexi experiences “the moment” but refuses to succumb to true love. Love in The Stacks—Debbie Herbert: Priscilla cannot do magic, though she can sense it in others, especially the hunky librarian, but he has ties to her past and she is unsure if he is good or bad. Map of Bones—Erzabet Bishop: can witch Merryn see past Damien’s demon to the man inside and can he protect her when she sees something she shouldn’t. A Witch’s Desire—C.E. Black: Witch Shell is hopelessly in love with her coven’s newest member James, trying not to think of him she does an attraction spell that goes wrong...or does it? Into the Ether—Angelica Dawson: Geoffrey takes his life to be with the women he loves but something goes wrong and she still cannot hear or feel him. Caught Under the October Moon—Kiki Howell & Gina Kincade: Brianna gets caught with more than her offering under the October moon. So It Begins (So Mote It Be: A Prequel)—Phoenix Johnson: an unwanted obsession's revenge spell backfires. Sweet for Salem—Elizabeth A Reeves: Widow Luisa gets the offer of a lifetime. Pandemonium’s Keeper—Hope Welch: The night before he is to wed Micah's life takes an unexpected turn to a new destiny.
Title: A Wicked Affair: A Paranormal Romance Short Story Boxed Set Series: A Wicked Halloween Note: Volume 1. These short stories are an introduction to the longer books in the companion box set, A Wicked Halloween. Author: Multiple
This is my review of A Wicked Affair, a short story box set. I got this book free in exchange for an honest review. The book moves at a good pace and keeps you interested. I love the various authors in this book and I loved getting stories from authors that I already knew and also finding new ones for me to add to my to be read list. Each separate story is a FULL story and has a ending (HEA) and there are NO cliffhangers. All of the stories are set in Salem because where else would you want to have a paranormal story set?
These books do exactly what they are supposed to do... get you excited and ready for the box set that is coming, A Wicked Halloween. The types of stories vary but they are all paranormal and they contain creatures like vampires, ghosts, demons, witches, shifters, empaths, and of course the stray humans. They range from hot enough to set your kindle smoking to just plain sweet. It is a total of 10 short stories but 10 amazing authors. This book gives you the chance to sample multiple authors for a small price and trust me you will be looking at their other books as soon as you finish this. Let's just call this an appetizer sampler for the big meal still to come.
A Wicked Affair These short stories are interesting appetizers that left me wanted more. Piqued my curiosity with the situations described. Hot, interesting and some had mystery and sweet and tender scenes. Can’t wait for A Wicked Halloween. Masked and Beautiful by Gwen Knight Lexi was an empath but didn’t want to accept what her Gigi had told her. Love in the Stacks by Debbie Herbert Priscilla had made a serious mistake. She can sense magic but her sense failed her. She trusted and was deceived. Map of Bones by Erzabet Bishop Merryn was a witch who wanted a normal life but what was described was very far from normal. A Witch’s Desire by C. E. Black An attraction spell that was useless because he was already enchanted. Into the Ether by Angelica Dawson He wanted to be with her beyond death but Fate had been cruel with him. Caught under the October Moon by Kiki Howell & Gina Kincade Brianna, a wiccan witch, was under the Moon in a ritual when Mitch found her. So it Begins (So Mote It Be: A Prequel) by Phoenix Johnson An evil witch threatening Caleb tipped things in his favor but still she wanted revenge. Sweet for Salem by Elizabeth A. Reeves Luisa was no longer young but she wanted to go with him and explore the world. Pandemonium’s Keeper by Hope Welsh To keep Elizabeth from a loneliness fate he was decided to exchange her fate for his.
What could be more exciting then a bunch of stories by some fantastic authors set in Salem on Halloween?? Nothing right. This is a collection of short stories from various authors with some great characters. Witches, werewolf, vampire and ghosts enough to tease you and make you want more and each story has a beginning, middle and an end.
Each of these books is such a fantastic read and I hope that the authors create longer stories for them.
10 authors came together to create this collection: Gwen Knight Debbie Herbert Erzabet Bishop C.E. Black Angelica Dawson Gina Kincade Kiki Howell Phoenix Johnson Elizabeth A. Reeves Hope Welsh
I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.
Rarely do I find a collection of short stories where I can honestly say I loved every story, but I can say that now! I enjoyed everything about this book. A Wicked Affair has everything this paranormal romance reader could ask for...shifters, an empath, witches, demons, and a great mix of sexy and sweet, with some danger thrown in. This book is easily read in one afternoon, but it's also great for spreading it out and reading one story each day for that rare few minutes of quiet time. A Wicked Affair is meant to be an intro to the upcoming A Wicked Halloween, and if I hadn't already preordered it, I would be now! I can't wait to see what happens next! A few authors, I was familiar with, and some were new to me, but I'll be checking them all out after reading this one!
This collection isn't so much a series of short stories as a series of vignettes or teasers. Most provide an introduction to characters and settings but don't really constitute a complete story with a well developed beginning, development and conclusion. They did, however, provide me with enough information pertaining to the upcoming Wicked Halloween boxed set that, if I hadn't already done so, I'd definitely pre-order it. All of the stories have some connection to Salem, Mass. and the Halloween season and it's historic connection with witches and the paranormal. If you're looking for a quick introduction to several new authors or are trying to decide on whether you're interested in picking up a new boxed set for Halloween, I would definitely recommend this collection.
This is another great set of short stories by these authors, some I know and some I've yet to discover. I went straight to Phoenix Johnson's story as I like this author, it's a witchy prequel and has left me wanting more. I can't wait to see where this story goes next. You can read the whole collection at once but I enjoyed spreading it out between other books. Reading this collection is great for sampling who you'd like to follow up on. It's like getting a cupcake and only licking a small area of icing...a sweet little taste of what's to come. You'll find Wicked Affair has everything the paranormal lover will want to read.
Gwen Knight's short Masked and Beautiful was really good I really liked Lexi and want to know what happened next between her and her masked Jack and I also want to read about Riley and Dawson.
Debbie Herbert's Love in the Stacks was a really good one I can't wait to read more about Priscilla and Breck and see why the coven don't like her and to see if she actually has powers.
Map of Bones by Erzabet Bishop was shocking and hot I can't wait to read more about Merryn and Damien I want to know what's going on with those bones lol.
All in all these shorts were awesome and I'm definitely going to get A Wicked Halloween when it comes out
These are some really hot, really great short stories. Maybe a bit shorter than I expected but that allowed me to read them all at once. All had exciting characters and lots of chemistry.
Masked and Beautiful (Gwen Knight) -- loved that Lexi and Jack hook up at a masquerade party and set the dance floor on fire. Love in the Stacks (Debbie Herbert) -- librarians are just sexy, I mean who doesn't love books Caught Under the October Moon (Gina Kincade & Kiki Howell) -- love in the outdoors
If you are looking for a bunch of quick reads, this is a book for you. I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and words here are entirely my own.
OK, not every story was MY 5-stars, but overall this is a delightful group of stories, most of which tease the imagination but are complete vignettes in and of themselves. These are all, of course, MEANT as teasers, to whet your appetite for the stories of which they are a part. You have nine appetizers from ten well-known authors, just perfect for when you only have a few minutes and want a break from your current reality. Of course, now I'm looking forward to the companion volume to find out how the pixie bones ended up in the school lab and what revenge Hilana is planning and where Luisa is going and...
Love, like magic, casts its own spell of enchantment.
A great collection of short stories designed to whet your appetite for the upcoming boxed set "A Wicked Halloween". It has something for every paranormal lover: witches, demons, shifters, empaths and more.
Some stories are sweet and some are oh, so steamy! I guarantee there is something for everyone! Great writing by great writers! I can't wait to continue these stories in the full boxed set!
I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
A Wicked Affair: A Paranormal Romance Short Story Boxed Set (A Wicked Halloween) (Volume 1) a set of short story paranormal romances focus on All Hallow’s Eve. I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review. All stories are complete in themselves with a beginning, a middle and a final, no cliffhangers! The stories taunt you into wanting more. This stories are a prelude to the complete books in the companion box set, A Wicked Halloween. I think any fan who enjoys reading about magic and romance will definite enjoy this set.
There are many short stories in this box set. This is all about the supernatural's out there, and the loves of their lives or the ones they want to have. There is Romance, Spell's, dark side, getting the person you love and want to be with, and Halloween themed. All these short stories were great and all caught my attention and very well written. Im not one that normally reads short stories but this set sounded so good and I gave it a try, and I was NOT disappointed. If you enjoy the out of this world Paranormal stories then you will love A Wicked Affair box set.

Michelle
This collection of stories are perfect to read. They have witches and shifters along with a few other creatures. Centered around Halloween they tell of the dreams and fears around this magical time of year. Dig in for a short walk down a path that will give you chills. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I so enjoyed these little glimpses into the stories that will be presented in a Wicked Halloween boxed set. I found many new authors to check out as well.
