Once again much was invested in Austria’s coolest ski area!
The Saalbacher Hof has been a part of the international art scene for a few years now. In the summer of 2017 the con.clave will take place for the fourth time. During this special week, the Saalbacher Hof offers a stage for the unique creative expressions of seven artists. These artists will talk on different themes, participate in the Art & Dine, and conduct painting workshops. These are but some of the highlights of the “live experience” of an artistic, creative process.
At the Schönleitenbahn, standing in line for the gondola is over. It was replaced by a modern 10-person gondola. With a capacity of 3,200 people per hour, you can now get to the mountain quickly and comfortably. In Hinterglemm the two mountains, the Zwölferkogel and the Westgipfel, are connected to each other and thus, there is no need for the short walk between the valley stations. Within a few minutes, you can get from one mountain to the other easily with the “12er Express.”
In the summer the best artworks of the past years found a new home in the corridors of the hotel. In addition, our F3 rooms (designed
by friends for friends) are now no longer experiencable just for those who sleep in them. Instead, detailed pictures of the interior decorate the respective doors of the rooms behind which the most unique designer rooms are concealed. Thus a stroll in the hotel is like a visit to an art museum. The “fire” section of the Five Elements’ Dining Room is also host to a winter exhibition this year. Art at the SBH is lived, exhibited, viewed, appreciated, and loved in all seasons.

Both are characterized by balanced ingredients and fresh regional products, with the Lifetime menu designed especially to be lighter. A different ambiance can be found in the rustic s’Wirtshaus, our à la carte restaurant, where typical Austrian specialties are the order of the day as well as the best burgers in the village or Thonio’s fresh pig roast. Just sign out for dinner at the Five Elements’ Dining Room by 12 noon and reserve a table at the s’Wirtshaus. Depending on the booked arrangement, we will credit you an allotment in your guest account.

APRÈS SKI RELOADED We define Après Ski in the Castello a little differently. German Schlagermusik and alcohol-induced roaring to DJ Ötzi songs is nothing for us. We love rock classics and good handmade guitar music. For this reason, we have also invited different Scandinavian bands for this winter. They will rock at the Castello every day except Saturdays, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. And when the first sunrays reach our terrace again at the end of January, the Après Ski will once again be outside. Only this time there will be something different. Imagine a live band on a terrace with people full of good vibes and rhythm—but onlookers do not hear anything! We call this the Silent Après Ski. Simply put the headphones on and off you go.

HOME OF LEGENDS CASTELLO OPENED ITS DOORS IN 1970. PREVIOUSLY, ONE GOT A TABLE ONLY WHEN ONE HAD PRE-ORDERED THE CORRESPONDING BOTTLE OF WINE FOR “5 O’CLOCK TEA.” TODAY, NO LONGER ARE WINE BOTTLES ON THE RED-TILED TABLES IN THE AFTERNOONS. INSTEAD, WINTER SPORTS PEOPLE, WITH SKI BOOTS AND THEIR “5 O’CLOCK TEA,” BECAME THE APRÈS SKI.
This winter the Castello shines in a new splendour. We have remained loyal to our Scandinavian bands. The winter of 2016/17 will be the winter of our music legends. The best and most popular bands of the last winter seasons will be featured. Manda, Glory Holes, the Jokes, and Rifforama are more than just names for enthusiastic Saalbach guests. We also won over two international top DJs to be resident artists. With our Silent Après Ski, which we will bring from the cellar to the sun if it is nice outside, we are taking a new, innovative path. Pretty—Quiet!
In the 1990s, the Castello was modernized for the last time. In fashion, the ’90s are at the height of modernity, but we didn’t find the inventory quite so chic. That is why the Castello, Saalbach’s largest club, was renovated in the autumn. In the “Home of Legends” a new modern cocktail bar was created where, from now on, real signature drinks from the large metropolises of the world are served. The stage on which our bands play every day has been enlarged and some cool design features have been incorporated throughout the club. The sound system was put together by one of Europe’s leading sound nerds doing his finest homework. The sound now matches the best,

Breathe deeply through the nose and through the mouth. As you breathe out, stretch your hands upwards and pull down as you exhale. Repeat this breathing 20 times. SBH Tip: Always breathe into the belly, not only into the chest (you recognize this because the stomach rises and retracts).

2. Submerge into the cold water! Before you go into the sauna, cool off your body. Stay in cold water for 2–3 minutes and slow down your breathing. SBH Tip: Do not move in the water or you will be warmer quickly. 3. Go into the sauna for 20 minutes and breathe using the Pranayama technique. It is very important that you exhale longer than inhale. This relaxes the body, helps against stress and helps you to a new way of life. Inhale 4 seconds through the nose and slowly out through the mouth for 8 seconds. Hold the air for 2 seconds and repeat the whole thing. SBH Tip: The slow exhalation is easier when you imagine blowing the air through a straw. 4. Immerse once more in the cooling basin. 5. Relax a bit and repeat the whole ritual.
