MONROVIA – Authorities on Tuesday identified the man who was killed in a shooting over the weekend.
Ed Winter, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical, said an autopsy is pending for 25-year-old Daniel Becerra Chavez of Duarte.
A pregnant woman was also injured in the shooting which took place just after 7 p.m. Sunday at Lincoln and Shrode avenues in the unincorporated county area near Monrovia.
Deputies found Chavez with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Winter said the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:21 a.m.
They located the second victim several houses away. Deputies said the 30-year-old woman was shot in the leg.
The motive for the shooting is still unknown. Sheriff’s homicide detectives couldn’t be reached for comment on Tuesday.
There were no description available of the suspect or suspects.
