I enjoy running in the rain, but always wonder if I am doing my shoes any damage.  Do people keep a pair of 'rain shoes' or do you run in your good shoes on a rainy day?

Also, is having a pair of shoes with good drainage (KSwiss Quicky Blade Lights) going to make a difference on a rainy day?

I wear mine no matter what the weather.

As far as drainage goes, if it's wet enough your feet will be wet no matter what.
No idea if drainage will help with lighter rain, maybe a bit, but not enough for me to be worried about it.

If you get caught in the rain and your shoes get soaked, stuff them completely full with crumpled up newspaper pages. They will dry out and be good to go for your next run.

My recommendation would be to have at least 2 pair of shoes. I wear mine in the rain all the time but you should let them dry completely before wearing them again. That could take a day or two.

I do have a pair of trail running shoes that are water protected (nothing is water proof...) and if the rain is heavy, that's what I'll use. After you get back from your run, remove the insoles and stuff the shoes with news paper. Let the paper soak up most of the water and remove it after a few hours (you don't want to leave the paper in there too long or the shoes won't dry up), leave the shoes to dry for at least a day (if humid, it might take two days).

X2. This works like a charm and helps to maintain the shape of your shoes as well. It is always a good idea to have a second pair of shoes anyways to rotate with, especially if they get soaked.

Absolutely yes, for two reasons.  No socks to soak up and retain the water, and the drainage really does work.  I run in Zoot Ultra TT's, and even in submerging my shoe in a deep puddle, you can feel the water drain out within about 10 steps.

Thanks for the feedback...

I do have a couple pairs of running shoes in the rotation, so that's not a worry.

Newspaper idea is new to me.  Gonna have to try that one.

X2 on this. That being said, I do run in a specific pair if I know it's going to be muddy/rainy.

Aka your "everyday" shoes in Seattle.

I run through rain (if no lightening) and let them dry out. Won't hurt them.

It may depend on the shoe, I'm not sure. I run in Merrell Dash Gloves, a minimalist shoe whose care instructions say to toss them in the washing machine...so I figure if they can take suds and spinning, they can take some rain.

My only issue with them is that since they have very thin soles, the shallowest of puddles flood them right away. I have just become OK with running soggy-footed.
