Energy Program of Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Change, School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has been instrumental in capacity building in energy related areas in Asia since it was established in 1979. A major emphasis of current teaching and research activities are on Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Greenhouse Gas Emissions mitigation, Energy for Sustainable Development, Smart Grid, Microgrid, Integration of Renewable and Plug-in Electric Vehicles, Regulation and Restructuring of Electric utilities business.

The Energy Program is interdisciplinary in nature, encompassing, planning and management aspects, addressing the current and emerging needs of energy sector. Energy Program prepares Asia for needed energy transition in the 21st century.
