Lunch With The Mayor Friday; Pool Schedules: Harrison Mayor

thanks to all for successful A Taste of Harrison and Relay for Life

From Mayor Ron Belmont

Last Sunday, residents and friends had the pleasure of sampling our local chefs’ specialties at the Friends of the Public Library fundraiser, “A Taste of Harrison”. It was a very successful affair, as over 100 people came out to support this very worthwhile event. All proceeds will be used by the Friends of the Public Library, a not for profit organization, to support the Harrison Public Library. Thank you to all volunteers and attendees. I would also like to express my gratitude to all the participating restaurants for their generous contributions.

I would like to recognize all those who participated in this year’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Relay for Life is a community event where everyone can participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of supporters gather overnight, at a local high school, and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track, at all times, during the event. Congratulations to the teams participating at Harrison High School where 59 teams, with 407 participants, raised over $105,000. This commitment, to helping in the fight against cancer, inspires all of us to make a difference.

Any concerns or suggestions, big or small, are important so please don’t hesitate to email, call or stop in to Town Hall. I am eager to serve the needs of all residents and my door is always open.

In closing, and as a friendly reminder, please watch for crews conducting annual street paving and maintenance work in and around Harrison neighborhoods. Your cooperation will insure that this year’s important town wide improvement projects will proceed without interruption and will keep work zones safe for pedestrians and motorists.

The next “Lunch with the Mayor” is on Friday, June 15 th and I will be at Copper House located at 11 Taylor Square in West Harrison. On Friday, June 22 nd I will be at 273 Kitchen located at 273 Halstead Avenue. I will be at these locations from 12:30 to 1:30 and look forward to meeting with residents and talking about issues facing our community.
