(ECNS) – No. 81 of Chaonei Dajie (Chaoyangmen Inner Street), a mansion famous for being haunted amongst netizens, is expected to undergo repairs, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

Meng Qi, who's in charge of guarding the mansion, said an application to renovate two old buildings in the yard had been submitted.

Numerous rumors have made No. 81 one of the most popular and mysterious targets for urban explorers in recent years.

The two buildings were built in 1910 by an American church to serve as a language-learning center and rest area.

Abandoned for a dozen years, the Western style structure looks eerie and leads people to assume it's haunted, but it's not, said Meng.
