New Castle County Register of Wills Ciro Poppiti III will run to be Delaware’s lieutenant governor next year.

Poppiti said he will formally announce his campaign at the Sussex County Democratic Party’s Jamboree in Lewes on Saturday.

Poppiti is serving his second term as New Castle County’s register of wills, which deals with the transfer of assets upon a person’s death.

“My skillset which is being collaborative and getting people to win-win situations. Strong on economy, strong on education and strong on seniors is exactly what the state needs,” Poppiti said.

The lieutenant governor position has been vacant since Matt Denn’s successful run for attorney general in 2014. Rehoboth Beach Commissioner Kathy McGuiness and Kent County Levy Court Commissioner Bradley Eaby have also announced their intent to seek the lieutenant governor post.
