Cabinet greenlights draft deals for two new bus routes connecting Bangladesh and India

The cabinet has given the go-ahead to draft deals to extend bus links with India to the Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala and Dhaka-Guwahati routes.

In the regular Monday meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, it approved the draft agreements and protocols for the routes. 

“The deals would be signed during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhaka,” Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told journalists after the meeting.

“Everything has been drafted and agreed upon consensus. Both the countries will enjoy equal benefits.”
 
He added a draft deal between the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) was also approved for signing during Modi’s maiden visit on June 6-7.
