'Real Housewives of Orange County' 's Shannon Beador Opens Up About Her Husband's Mistress and Slams Reports of Their Recent Altercation

Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador wants to set the record straight.

After a season of filming the drama-filled reality show, which partly chronicled Beador and her husband David working to salvage their marriage after he had a protracted affair with another woman, the reality star says the drama isn’t behind them just yet.

“All my husband and I want to do is move forward,” Beador tells PEOPLE exclusively. But recently they’re finding that hard to do.

When the couple stepped out to a USC Trojan football game this past weekend in Los Angeles, their troubles came back to haunt them. Sitting just 10 rows in front of them was Nicole McMackin, who Beador tells PEOPLE was her husband’s mistress, and McMackin’s husband Reed.

“We’re boosters,” explains Beador, who is a USC alum along with her husband. “We’ve had these tickets for 10 years in the same place. They were aware of that. We just don’t understand why they’d choose tickets in a huge stadium that are right in front of us.”

Though Beador says there was an “altercation” between the two of them at the game, she insists it it didn’t at all go down like reports have claimed.

“They said I was screaming at them during pre-game warmups,” says Beador, citing claims made in a story that posted to ET Online. “We got there after the game started so that isn’t true!” And as for the claims that Beador accosted McMackin, she says “I never touched her.”

So what did happen between the two women? “I was coming down the stairs after using the restroom and she was coming through the tunnel and we literally were inches apart,” explains Beador. “I very calmly said, ‘You have a lot of nerve being here Nicole.’ I thought, I always say nothing and I have to tell her I’ve had it and she needs to stop flaunting herself in front of me.”

What ensued was a war of words. “She responded and screamed in my face, ‘F— you!’ and pointed her finger at me. And then I got angry. I’m human. I got angry and screamed to the stands, ‘This is who my husband had an affair with!’ ”

Beador says it marks the first time she’s outed McMackin in public.

“I’ve protected her and her family. I’ve never divulged her name, which I could have. I’ve not divulged the demented details that I could have. I only discussed on the show the repair process to my marriage. I’ve done nothing but take the high road and maintain my integrity through all of this.”

Though Beador says the McMackins are reportedly angered by her referencing the affair on the show, she’s unmoved.

“That’s a part of my life. That was the risk she took by being in an affair with my husband. I am authentic and I am real. As much as we hated doing it, it had to be discussed if I was going to continue on the show.”

While Beador says she and her husband try hard to steer clear of the McMackins, she’s convinced they are interested in the opposite.

“I just found out they joined our same sports club,” says Beador. “We do everything we can to avoid places they go. David is flabbergasted.”

Still, she says, after working things out, she and David are focused on moving on.

“I want to forget it. I have forgotten it and I’ve forgiven. I’m moving forward and my husband and I are better today than when we got married. We’re closer.”
