Michael E. Sedgwick

About the author

Born in 1938, just before Europe was engulfed in WWII, the author watched his country sacrifice its wealth at home and abroad not only to hold off invasion by the enemy, but to gather military resources and take on superior forces in North Africa to protect the nation's lifeline of oil from the Middle East. He describes how he and his mother lived frugally for five years while his father was with the British 8th Army; also the vital role in his life played by his maternal grandmother and, eventually, his stepmother. At the end of the war, he saw America become the victor, Germany the loser, and Britain the impoverished hero of events. He was saddened throughout life to watch the nation of his birth, that had once been preeminent, lose position in the world. For 37 years, he worked for an American International Manufacturing Company as a technical employee, first in Wales, then in Brussels, Belgium, and finally in Minnesota. In the latter part of his career, he traveled extensively throughout the world to provide technical assistance to subsidiary personnel. This biography details the various events in a life that was sometimes sad, often happy, and always interesting. Michael Sedgwick lives with his wife, Eileen, of 56 years in a beautiful community at the foot of the Catalina Mountains in Southern Arizona. He is the author of six novels and short story collections.
