FUNDING: Fans desperate to wear the latest Three Lions shirt in France are being scammed

Fans desperate to wear the latest Three Lions shirt in France are being scammed by foreign criminal gangs.

The black market is being flooded with phoney England shirts which are being sold for as little as £20.

Some even come with faked Nike labels and bags to add authenticity but they are counterfeit because FA bosses strictly control the outlets that can sell the shirts.

The official match day top worn by Roy's Boys should cost up to £90.

A replica shirt on the FA's website is £60 and a kids' jersey is a pricey £48.

It is not the first time Brit fans face being fleeced in the build-up to the tournament.

Daily Star Online revealed watching all of England's group games would cost £13,500 – if you bought your tickets through third-party websites.

Tensions between Brit fans with the tournament now just days away are rising all the time over fears of terror attacks and hooliganism.

ILLEGAL: Fake England shirts are being advertised on Facebook

Now it's believed illegal shirt trade is funding drug-runners, people smugglers and vice gangs because these are the people who control the counterfeiting operations in places like China and Turkey.

A specialist unit is working with Facebook and other social media sites to close down the rogue traders selling a range of counterfeit gear.

Mike Andrews, of the National Trading Standards eCrime team, said: "There are many people on social media selling but we are working hard to close them down.

"People might think they are buying a bargain from a chap down the road who has some goods to sell.

"But ultimately the people behind shipping in these goods in bulk are organised gangs and the money filters through to activities like prostitution, guns and drugs."

The traders offer their cut price gear on local selling groups or even on their personal pages.

This means they do not have to flog their counterfeit goods on the streets where there is far more chance of being arrested.

French cops will also target Brit fans approaching prostitutes – where the sex trade is illegal.

Any supporter caught buying the services of a prostitute faced being slapped with a huge fine and forced to go to a sex education class.
