Clarence Daniels Advocacy Award
Clarence was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT and was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. In his own words, due to his addiction, Clarence spent most of his adult life in and out of prison. This last time though, he was released from prison directly to Peter's Retreat, an AIDS housing program in Hartford. It was there that he blossomed. He was an active member of WAR (Win AIDS Resources), the resident advocacy group at the house. He traveled to Washington to meet with our congressional delegation and was a constant presence at the state capitol. One day in April, 1998, he called Shawn M. Lang, ACT's Director of Public Policy, to get an update on what had happened at the Capitol that day. Later that night, he died.

Eligible nominees for the 2014 Clarence Daniels Advocacy Award are individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in advocating for people living with HIV/AIDS.

If you know of such a person, please take the time to complete this nomination form. The recipient will be selected by ACT's Director of Public Policy, Shawn M. Lang, and presented at ACT's Annual Meeting on October 10, 2014. All nominees will be recognized within the Annual Meeting packet.
