EU Visiting Scholar in Residence – Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada

The Centre for European Studies (CES, www.carleton.ca/ces), an EU Centre of Excellence at Carleton University in Ottawa, invites applications for a position as scholar-in-residence for a period of four months, January-April 2015. This appointment will be made in cooperation with the university’s teaching unit, the Institute of European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies. The position will involve teaching one seminar-type course in the area of European integration, preferably a seminar entitled ‘Social and Political Perspectives in Europe’, In addition the visitor will participate in co-taught class sessions in other courses and participate in external outreach activities, including a public lecture, a lectures at another regional universities, and inclusion in other outreach activities. Our goal is to maintain teaching and/or research collaboration after the visitor returns to Europe. The visitor may also have the opportunity to visit other EU Centres in Canada.

Applicants should be scholars from an EU member state, preferably with an academic affiliation with an EU-based university. We are seeking applicants with a completed Ph.D. in a relevant field and with a record of publication, research, and teaching in EU studies. The scholar-in-residence will receive a stipend to cover travel and accommodation expenses, as well as a fee for teaching. Applicants should include a letter of application explaining interest in the position, a curriculum vitae, and, if possible, a copy of a recent publication relating to a topic of relevance to this competition. In addition two letters of reference should be provided directly to us under separate cover.
