A market trader has been told he faces a substantial period in jail after pleading guilty to selling counterfeit DVDs and CDs.
Andrew Thornton, 33, of Ibsen Walk, Northants pleaded guilty to running a fraudulent business on Bovingdon Market between September 1, 2011 and June 30, 2014.
Prosecutor Andrew Johnson did not open the case at St Albans Crown Court on Monday, but he told Judge Marie Catterson that the estimated profit generated by Thornton was in excess of £1 million.
Alex Britton, defending, asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
Judge Catterson agreed, but warned Thornton: "It is very likely that you will be sentenced to a substantial period of custody."
Sentencing is set for February 12.
