The inspiration for this shawl was a visit to Glasgow, where of course it rained. It uses a variation of shower stitch, with lace worked on the right side only & upside down. The shower stitch this way up echoes the diamond lattice in the famous Squinty Bridge in Glasgow. The shaping uses a lace pattern inspired by the umbrella stitch, again upside down. It is edged in variations of raindrop stitch. The shawl is somewhere between a crescent & half hexagon in shape, so it sits well.

The original shawl is knitted in DK yarn using 5mm needles, but it is possible to knit it from any weight as the size can be adjusted by working more repeats of the pattern. The pink & brown ones shown here have 2 repeats of the charts 3 & 4.
