I disagree with the detail, but I might be just overestimating the strengths of the PS4 with open world games. Much of the draw distance is hidden behind DOF, and in GIFs like this...

horizon3py38.gif

...there's pretty evident heavy culling of foliage, shadow, and detail over distance.

This looks more impressive to me in the foreground than over draw distance. Which isn't to say the draw distance looks bad, but it doesn't jump out to me as particularly incredible as an open world game.

This is what our current crop of next-gen only PS4 open world titles look like though (via Digital Foundry).

And Uncharted 4 in a relatively controlled scenario:

This feels like it's a different level to me.

Definitely not an STD, as I'm a pure.
People really are saying this can only be PS Neo, must've never played a game from Guerrilla or something. They're up there with Naughty Dog and SSM on a technical standpoint.

I guess you have really low expectations for "open areas", that game is the definition of linear and "open areas" would have hurt the game.

You obviously didn't play Uncharted 4. There is plenty of open areas in there, not open world but open and very large.

I think the change in number of delays from last gen to this gen is a large disappointment.

Good for business? Sure. Disappointment as a consumer that they keep announcing shit too early? Yes. It's an industry-wide annoyance.

How are delays good for business? They're good for consumers and bad for business, if anything.

The industry is already moving towards a shorter time between announcement and release, and I expect that trend to continue. But it doesn't help that the gaming community is so eager for leaks and early info.

And each of them was empty. No wildlife, nothing to do except follow story and maybe discover few tucked in artefacts.

Horiuzon on the other hand is full on open world game, with action, collectibles, crafting, enemies, quests/sidequests, cities, loot management, etc.

Source? We have no idea how big or dense Horizon is.

But everything on this trailer is real time sequences, not gameplay. Not a fair comparisson.

Well, the writter behind the Bloody Baron Questline from Witcher 3 is working on this game, so I am hopeful the actual games writing is good, since this trailer didn't really give a good impression for it.

One quest designer out of many that worked on the Blood Baron Questline, not the sole guy behind that questline, so don't get your hopes up that Guerilla will actually deliver a good narrative this time.

The writing in this trailer is so clichéd and trite, if not straight awful.

Developers should know where their weaknesses lie. A minimalist story would probably be better in 90% of the cases when a video game attempts one. You'd think Guerrilla would be capable of some soul-searching after the games they've released. :p

Of course they know where they weakness lie.
It's why they hired people for the job :p

After sony learned from the killzone 2 trailer i havent really worried about the quality of the 1st/2nd party games final release graphics

I mean... infamous, driveclub, order, killzone ps4, uncharted, etc all looked great.

I have no reason to worry now. Ubisoft on the other hand...

Killzone 2 trailer was always presented as a target reference though, not actual gameplay. Basically a pre-rendered guess.

This looks good, still hope we get to see a big gameplay sequence at E3. I want to see some form of Towns and quests. Would be cool to see the HUD too

Its going to be said for every game moving forward now. Its probably the most annoying part that neo is a thing to me. Its up there with everyone asking for an nx port

I'd be in the dick

Cutscene camera angles to hide deficiencies make a massive difference. You can even still see pop in at times.

She is probably the daughter of some scientist couple that created the robot dinosaurs that destroyed the world or something.
The time period between the eras is to big. No way delapitated buildings and a whole new civiliation referring to the " old people " happened in what appears to be 30 years ( her age )

Im thinking she is a cyborg. The robots created her.

So you have seen how big/open Horizon is? Uc4 has open areas, pretty large ones....that's a fact, you can downplay it all you want.

Of course I haven't seen how big Horizon is, but if they're advertising it as a huge open world and then it only compares to the few open parts of Uncharted 4, then it's going to be a huge disappointment.

What parts are you even talking about though? The ballroom party? The street part in Madagascar where there are a few moments to interact with the environment?

A delay is good for business since you know, releasing a broken and incomplete product would provoke outrage.

Great Job Gurella Games. I'm getting some serious uncanny valley vibes from the visual design.

Also is it just me or does Alloy's voice sound familiar? Like its a famous voice that I just can't place

What a great trailer. I can't wait to explore this game.....while riding a mech dino of course.

Edit: love the cover art for the regular and steel book which is rare to like both.

The entire jeep section in Madasgar is huge, did you play the game?

name one......

I repeat, a game being open word in no way guarantees it is dense or huge.....there are many empty generic open worlds out there.

it's an open world game. I have no way of knowing whether it's good or not, but that's what it is.

The Dino Aligator part is the part I could see as gameplay, but camera makes me think it's still cutscene.

It feels like there's a lot of posed footage that's meant to look like it's supposed to be gameplay without the UI instead of cutscenes, but it's hard to tell for certain.
