Discharge of firearm – Jackson

Police are investigating the possible discharge of a firearm on the Warrego Highway last night.

Around 9.40pm, a truck driver flashed his lights to alert an oncoming utility to lower their lights. When the ute did not respond, the truck driver again flashed his lights.

After passing the semi-trailer in the opposite direction, the utility performed a U-turn and then overtook the truck before stopping abruptly, causing the truck driver to brake heavily.

The truck driver pulled over to the side of the road and the utility performed another U-turn before stopping near the truck.

At this point, the front seat passenger exited the utility and a noise consistent with a gunshot was heard as an object struck the front of the truck.

The utility then sped off in the direction of Roma.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to please come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
