Drugs, Sex, & EDM

It had all the makings of a perfect plot, and for bestselling author Lila Keaton-it was a hedonistic past she kept hidden far away. Many nights were spent crossing the velvet rope, dancing until dawn and bedding one of the worlds biggest DJ’s, Hunter Michaels AKA Arial Assault.

When Lila’s agent uncovers her thrilling secret, it appears as if nothing is off limits when it comes to pitching the story, whether Lila wants to tell it or not. Despite knowing her reluctance is career suicide, she cannot bring herself to open her heart once more to the man who nearly destroyed it.

Given the opportunity to escape her predicament, Hunter attempts to reconcile the pain he has caused, and rekindle the passion that was abandoned long ago. When a series of events causes history to repeat itself, Lila sets off unaccompanied through out the west to test her boundaries with the sensual and surreal, and ultimately come face to face with the only thing that can keep her from falling.

5 I need Grant in my life stars!

How do I begin to tell you how much I loved this book? I'm going to try to put into words how awesome it is. JL wrote one amazing story!! This is the first of her books I have read, not because I haven't wanted to, its just I'm always so booked with review for the blog I don't have time to tackle my TBR list. After reading Falling Stars I will be pushing up her other books to the top of my never ending TBR :)

The beginning of the book was hard to read, not because the writing was bad, but because the story isn't a light and feathery type of book. It's full of sex, drugs, and heart ache. Those are the things I look for in a book though, I'm an angst whore!

I fell in book love with Grant! Ladies, do yourself a favor and get acquainted with this amazing character! Oh, he has a surprise package for you all ;) I won't spoil what that is, just know it's quite a surprise! The sex in this book is scorching hot!!!!

Got grab your copy now Babes, you won't regret it ❤️

Lila is a writer, struggling to find her voice after her last book was a smashing success. If writer’s block wasn’t bad enough, she’s planning on moving back home to get her head on straight, a move she sees as a failure. After being ambushed by her publisher, pushing Lila for a story she’s not yet ready to tell, she resigns and is left trying to figure out where to go from there.

Now, about that story…

In packing up her apartment, her publisher comes across a box of mementos Lila has kept from her past life as the girlfriend of international DJ sensation Arial Assault, or Hunter Michaels, as he’s known to Lila. Her agent is sure that there is a best seller just waiting to be sold and even goes so far as to arrange for Hunter to meet with Lila, unbeknownst to her. What happens then sets off a whirlwind journey for Lila as she struggles to come to terms with who she was and who she wants to be.

Hunter Michaels is the DJ bad boy that moves from town to town with little but a satchel on his back containing his laptop and a change of clothes. He’s not one to be tied down by commitment, especially since the only one he’s ever wanted is the one that got away. When he is given the opportunity to reinsert himself into Lila’s life he takes full advantage, but can he ever truly prove to her that she has been the only one? That he would walk away from everything if she just said the word?

I don’t do spoilers so I won’t go into full details about how he ended up in the equation, but enter Grant. Lila meets Grant when she decides to take a road trip and meets him as he is on a retreat with some of his friends. The two end up, with his friends, at a Burning Man type of festival in the desert and the two find themselves with an unusual attraction towards one another. But the day that they were supposed to leave, Grant up and disappears, unable to say goodbye Lila. Is Lila ready to move on with a virtual stranger, especially if he is harboring some pretty deep secrets?

I absolutely loved Lila’s history and her involvement in electronica. It had me reminiscing of a different time and place where I didn’t have the cares or responsibilities that I do now and it certainly made me connect with the book on a different level. There are certain elements that Ms. Brooks included that were very sensory, such as putting the needle on the record, that first hiss and pop, and the sound through those headphones as the first bass line is dropped. For me, it put me in exactly a time and place and engaged my senses. It is this element that demonstrated the difference between showing vs. telling.

Falling Stars is an AMAZING book. I ate it up from the very first page and couldn’t put it down. At first I was caught up in the romance of the second chance love story between Lila and Hunter, then I was completely swept off my feet by the mysterious stranger Grant that seems to connect with Lila on nearly every single level. Add some secrets, intrigue and a little blackmail and you have the makings of an incredibly sensual, riveting, and seductive tale. It is well written with characters that are so well crafted that we feel all of the emotions they feel; the heartbreak, desire, longing, and confusion. It does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, which normally ticks me off a bit, but this has left me absolutely salivating for the next volume in the story. The storyline has so many twists and turns that you won’t see coming and it will certainly keep you engaged and guessing. Hands down five stars and one of my favorites of 2014.

J L brooks really out did herself, she knows how to keep you interested and she definitely got the sex scene hot and real. You find that you want to read every page and feel what the characters are feeling. When you think the end is near you’re so wrong. When you think they have found the ever after you are taken back. You want to fight for them Lila and Hunter ,you want to cheer them on to love each other but then you meet Grant and all bets are off you want Grant to give Lila all she is missing and want her to take it. But in true fashion as her personality is she is already preparing for the worst and that is right around the corner. Hunter has always had his Claws in her heart and soul and just when you think he is out. The world she thought she had created is changed 50 times over. Will the one night she gave into be the end of all she has?

I have read a lot of books but I have to sincerely say that this book was something I truly didn’t expect. What I mean is when you start the book you find yourself in another story all together so you’re reading a story within a story. See this book is about Lila who is a bestselling author and she is at a reading, even though she has great books there has always been something missing. Her heart that she gave to Hunter years ago you would think with all the time that has passed between them that it would be easy to just continue. Hunter was a force to be reckoned with he took her to places that only he knew how. After all this time Lila realizes that she needs to move on, she doesn’t have the words to put on pages anymore that spark is gone. But her publisher has other plans. When her past reunites with her present. All with her consent. Does she act like all is well or does she do what she didn’t many years ago? Run! Hunter comes into her life but the assuming that she wanted him there, not knowing that she was just a surprised to see him. They try to pick up were things left off but they both know that there no good for each other, but their hearts will not allow them to move on. After going home and almost being assaulted Hunter is gone and not word from him in month. So she takes a trip to get answers and hope that he will heal the broken heart. But she found more than she ever bargain for. He has a girlfriend that he forgot to mention and apparently she is his concern not her. She runs off. That gives her the strength to write the book that she thought she never could. In her time away she finds the angel she has searched for not even knowing that is what she needed.
then Grant comes in like a knight that is there to save her from her past demons and save her from herself. But can he be enough? Will Grant be enough to clear the nightmares or will he add to them. I started this book and I was reluctant at first I thought here we go the same old story girl falls in love , love leave the reunite and then there together happy ever after. But no I was so mistaken it is so much more and the depth and the love, turmoil that is poured in every page you feel them. When she doubts you doubt when she feels dumb you feel dumb for her. When she loves and cry’s you want to help her. I cried and laughed and hated. I felt like this was story a mixture of dominance and submissive and wanting to just let loose and feel everything make yourself raw.
The author truly had me I felt just as raw as Lila through every page. But I will tell you that the ending is so unreal that your left with your mouth open in shock!!

"Words are like drugs, they have the power to harm and to heal."

You know that a book is extremely good when you have to walk away and come back to later to write a review so that all your thoughts are put together.

Falling Stars is definitely not your typical romance book which makes me love this book even more. Without giving anything away, what you expect to happen, doesn't - nothing you expect to happen does. JL definitely keeps you on your toes throughout the whole story and has you going "Oh shit" quite a few times.

Lila definitely has a long yet rough path to where she wants to go. Having Hunter thrown into the mix sorta throws her off kilter, but once she gets her bearings - she finally knows what she needs to do. Along her journey she meets some great people and even comes across an old friend. All these people will help shape Lila and will affect her in one way or another. I am not telling you much about any of these characters, however you will fall in love with Grant. I will say no more about that. ;) And the ending - damnit - I did not see that coming. AHHHHHHH!!!

JL completely puts you in the shoes of Lila. You will feel every single of one her emotions. You feel as though you are walking the path with her. And when she recounts her past with Hunter, you feel as though you are there when it happened. JL's attention to detail is impeccable. You can picture everything perfectly. I can't say enough about how well this book is written. Just WOW!!!

I can't say enough how awesome this book is. JL has definitely come into her own on this one. My heart was racing through so many scenes just wondering what was going to happen and where things were going to go. This book is still with me - almost a month after reading it in it's entirety. Absolutely amazing!!!

"Coincidences are when God chooses to remain anonymous."

You must read this book. You will be surprised by everything. Awesome job JL!! I can't wait to see what come out with next!!

My Rating:

Favorite Quotes:

“I was being a fool. My own reservations about the kind of person I was would never let me be happy with anyone ever. I would always find an excuse as to why it wouldn’t work to protect my heart from getting hurt.”

“Where you come from is not nearly as important as where you are going, and in my world the underdog stands a chance at being somebody. This is what I remember, and what I will take with me to the grave.”

“Looking back I could feel the conflict of leaving what was familiar for what was possible, consciously weighing out which regret to carry.”

My Review:

From beginning to end, the entire time I was reading this novel, I could not make up my mind if I liked it or not. I frequently felt… annoyed, and a bit on edge. I was annoyed with the story as well as the main character. While the writing was interesting, it seemed a bit choppy, as if it was written as a screenplay, often jumping abruptly from scene to scene without closure or continuity. The story was also incompletely presented – like I had missed part of the conversation, or there was a private joke that I was assumed to know but didn’t - which had me uncomfortable. I could not seem to shake an under-current of unease or of being unsettled while reading. Add to that, I could not seem to care for the main character. She seemed more than a bit of a shrew, unable to be ever be satisfied, always pushing to the extreme edge, immature, self-centered, spoiled, and lazy. I felt sorry for those she come into contact with as she made odd choices and rash decisions. When the story finally took a more uplifting turn, damn, a dramatic cliffhanger, I wish someone had warned me… I huffed in disgust and was cranky for the rest of the day.

Wow, just wow. I absolutely Love this book. There are so many little pieces of info and tidbits intertwined into this book along with the story that I found myself looking things up because they sounded so interesting through the writing. Lila is definitely an interesting character and though she feels she has issues she also seems to be completely comfortable with herself also. The secondary characters are very well described. I was amazed with how much detail there was with such a relatively short page count. A great book and a story can't wait for the continuation of.

This book has A LOT going on! In fact, it's almost like 2 separate stories that kind of come together at the end. It gave me the hippie vibe but set in modern day. The female lead was a bit on the "reckless" side on several occasions, too. I am not sure whether I would say I liked this book or not. It was also a cliffhanger...which frustrated me because there were a lot of unanswered questions. This would be ok if I loved the book and planned to read Volume 2 but I'm not sure I will.

Although this is the first in the series it is set up to the point that you don't want it to end and when it does you are mad. I loved Lila and Hunter and the chemistry that they had. They were like a train wreak that was waiting to happen. This book took me through many emotions and by time I got to the end all I could say was nooooo. Now I have to wait patiently until the next volume comes out

“I am convinced true love is nothing more than a fairytale we are sold on as children to prolong the inevitable truth. Your heart will be shattered into a million pieces and there is nothing you can do to stop it. So why if this inescapable fate is so tortuous, do we desire it more than anything else in life?”

Those happen to be my favorite words from this book. JL Brooks has done it again and I am sitting here blown away by her words, and the emotions that she pures into each story she writes. I am so glad that she sat and wrote this book because it is something that was inside her that needed to come out. I also told her it was going to be AMAZING before I even read a single thought!! She grabbed me with the prologue and then once that happened I was in complete love with the story/stories she was telling and I say stories because really this book holds more than just one. JL managed to take a story and take us on journey that really hasn’t been touched. It is almost impossible to put into words what this book makes you feel. I HATE/LOVE WHEN THIS HAPPENS TO ME!!!

“I am constantly trying to transcribe these emotions into written words without actually experiencing them. The real thing was overwhelming and indescribable.”

Lila is an author who can’t seem to find any new inspiration for writing that is until her agent finds a box holding her past, holding a love she no longer thinks about. But her agent sees this as a gem and the inspiration Lila needs. Her agent sees this as a chance for Lila to write “Her Story” and she pushes her past right back in her path. This is where I was all HOLY SHIT?!?!?!

“Guys like him didn’t exist, yet here he was shattering any delusions I held about what was real and what was fiction. The lines blurred and suddenly I no longer cared.”

Hunter Michaels is the famous DJ “Ariel Assault” traveling the world and it has been decades since these two have seen each other. He is her past and he is the reason she has these huge walls around her heart. However he is also the only one that can tear them down. As we watch these two together we get to see what their past looked like. I have to admit as a girl that lived in a club, I totally got it. But then JL throws in a spin and Hunter and Lila’s relationship turns out to be over yet again and she takes off to once again find herself and heal from what has happened. She starts to write and heal the way she knows how. Then prepare because HOLY HELL BAM here comes her “Muse”. Mr. Teacher/OMG do men really look like him, Grant. At this point I also am questioning why my daughter has never had a teacher like this and what school do I find one!!

“It’s not right. I can only imagine the entire class of mom’s fighting to have their child in yours. And parent teacher meetings, I am sure a sexual harassment video has to be shown beforehand. Seriously.”

I am not going to lie I would harass him in a couple ways. Grant is everything Lila deserves and he comes to truly care for Lila in just the short time they have gotten to know one another. He opens her up and helps her see other things. And just when you get the warm fuzzy, I totally know where she is going with this story. JL takes the rug and rips it from under your feet. Yep, she leaves you standing there saying WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!?! And so I have to stop here because I can’t spoil anymore. I will just let you know JL Brooks got me and I need book 2 more then I need air.

Also JL …

“Part of your story is missing.”

But I LOVE YOU MORE THAN WORDS, I can never thank you enough for allowing me to be a part of your writing journey. You have possible the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met and it shows in every story you write. I feel more then blessed that God has brought you in my life and I cannot wait to see what else you have to show the world!! NOW YOU BETTER BE WRITING BOOK 2!!!

3.75 out of 5 stars

I absolutely loved the idea and concept of this book. Lila Keaton, is a best selling author, one who not only writes erotica but also pushes the boundaries. She's always known her time in the spotlight may be fleeting, so when plagued with writer's block and void of any inspiration she willing resigns with her publisher. Unfortunately, her agent uncovers secretes from her past and pushes Lila to turn those memories into her next bestseller. When she refuses, her agent further tries force her hand when she publicly announces her famous ex-boyfriend's support of the new book. Infuriated and fearful of opening the doors to her painful past she commits career suicide, running away from Hunter and their memories, she drops her agent, publisher, and refuses to do the book with plans to give up and move back home. But nothing ever goes as planned and one weekend built on the hope of a second chance, leads her down a road she never expected.

Reading a story about a book character who was an author struggling for their next masterpiece was an incredibly unique experience. Being able to see the ups and downs of their lives, getting an idea as to how a story is born, even watching the lines of reality and fantasy blur was all very interesting. Of course Falling Stars is a work of fiction, and I'm not an author, so who knows if this is what life is really like for most authors, but my point is JL Brooks convinced me of Lila Keaton's character.

I found myself struggling with my feelings for Hunter and his relationship with Lila. It felt too all consuming, and being just in Lila's head, having to slowly piece together the story of their past. I just wasn't sure. I think a part of me wanted them to work it out, and I think I certainly was pulling for the mysteriousness of Hunter to lift, for their relationship to make sense and for them to find a HEA. But then Grant entered the picture.

I immediately fell for Grant. He seemed to be able to bring out all the best parts of Lila. He guided her to a better place, he opened her eyes up to the possibility of true and equal happiness. I appreciated her time and experiences with him because the end result was an even stronger, certainly more confident, with a better idea of what she wants out of life Lila Keaton.

I was on cloud nine for my characters when I started the epilogue, only to come crashing down when the last word was read. I should have realized this was the first book in a new series, but I didn't so when I was left with a cliff hanger I found myself frustrated. Of course this is not JL Brooks fault, and if I hadn't been invested in the characters and story it wouldn't have affected me. So, that alone is a testament to this author's ability to tell an intriguing story. And looking back the randomness of a few of the scenes in the book make more sense now, knowing there will be another book. But, even 24 hours later I am still wondering why some things transpired the way they did, yet while parts of the book may have felt choppy I overall enjoyed the read and would recommend you read Falling Stars for yourselves.

Reading the Prologue tends to draw the reader in. I read the prologue and said what the heck is that all about? But the prologue was a story written by the main character who is an author. I was confused throughout the story and felt like I didn’t understand something. Something just didn’t make sense. Then I reread the prologue and realized I missed part of understanding what the whole story was about. The first part of the prologue was very similar to the journey Lila Keaton was about to face. Her heart and soul was part of “The Little Traveler.”

Lila Keaton is a bestselling author who writes romance/erotica novels. Can the author live through her descriptive scenarios or is she purely visual? She is sleeping with Arial Assault DJ, Hunter Michaels. I tried to open up my heart to Hunter and have sympathy for him, but he kept tearing at my heartstrings.

I was intrigued throughout the story, but I thought a lot of the romance scenes seemed unrealistic. Yes, everyone would like to have that much sex, but it doesn’t happen. Hunter’s loving knows no bounds.
Lila’s agent Dinah is ready to throw out the next pitch for Lila whether she is okay with it or not. Lila knows that by not sharing her story, she may as well turn in her resignation. She cannot lay herself bare again to the man, the one person, who she has built up walls against.

Hunter tries to work things out with Lila, but is it enough to bring them back together or will history repeat itself and Hunter’s unforgiving ways shine through? Lila seeks out a journey alone not knowing what she is doing or where she is going.

Just when I thought there was someone to save Lila from herself, I was wrong. I never expected anything that happened at any point in this story. Every time I thought Lila was getting her life together or on a steady road, BAM! She would get smacked in the face with something new. I am very curious to see what is to come of book #2 in this series, because this is definitely not a standalone, one and done. This book will leave you thinking “What just happened? Let me reread the last few pages to see what I missed.” You will definitely be lured to book #2. I can’t wait to see what JL Brooks has in store for us.

Shrew….so glad I verified that this was a series. Otherwise, this rating would have been a three. Needless to say there is a bit of a cliffhanger!

Lila just quite frankly can’t find herself. She’s lost, still hung up on a guy and has become a bit of a hermit. Falling Stars is about her journey as a person, a woman, a daughter and an Author. She needs to figure herself out sexually, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Hunter is, for all accounts, the love of her life. He’s a major hottie traveling and extremely talented, club DJ. He’s got mad skills and at some point (10 years ago) Lila decides that if she doesn’t leave him she will hold him back. That and the fact that she walked in on him so high he couldn’t move the girl off of himself to run after Lila.

Lila left him and moved on with her life. She’s an erotic author and has made a comfortable life for herself. She’s just finished writing a book that’s out of her comfort zone and she’s lost with the feeling that the story is over and she needs to find a new one. She’s packing up and moving back home to figure things out. She finds her “hunter” box and is told this would make a great story. She refuses but gets roped into agreeing to do it and Hunter is back in her life.

After a week of him being there for her, knowing the entire time that it was temporary, she moves on. I still don’t know how she did it. I wanted them to fight to be together. She’s gone….off to find a place to write this story that she knows will destroy her. She finds Grant and he’s amazing. He heals her and she moves on with him.

Will Hunter be back? Can she find her happiness with Grant? Will the book be everything she hopes it will? What is her future? Will she choose the right path?

I floundered with this book. Sometimes I was right there and rooting for her and then she’d say or do something so…strange that it just didn’t make sense to me. The story is good and I enjoyed the male characters. I thoroughly enjoyed her time with Grant, it was so well written. But other times I seemed to get lost. This is a LONG book and ends with a big cliffhanger.

Falling Stars was an absolute intense read. I felt like I was on Lila's journey with her. I was emotionally wrecked when I finished the book. *high five JL, high five

Meet Lila, a bestselling author with a past, named Hunter Michaels AKA DJ Arial Assault AKA infamous bad boy AKA first love AKA heartbreaker. Did ya get that? To save her career can she write their story and face the past head on, while protecting her heart from "falling"?

Hunter...does not disappoint in the bad boy image category and boy am I feeling Lila's pain. One minute I love Hunter the next I hate him. At the moment...TBD?!?

Did I mention this reunion sends Lila on a journey of finding one's self? Past, present and future seem to be twisted together at each turn, along with men. If Lila thought running from Hunter kept her heart safe, WRONG.

Lorenzo...an old "friend" in the book business who she turns to and "trusts" also plays a riveting part in helping her figure out who she is, wants to be and needs to do in her career. Ummmm, let's just say another TBD. Let me explain. So, we are left with a cliffhanger that completely caught me off guard. Hence the TBDs. I screamed, literally screamed, and woke my husband up at 1 am when I finished the story. *hand claps* Way to go JL Brooks! Nicely played!

Last, but not least, Grant...hello Grant! So, if I met Grant on my journey of self what would I do? Everything and I mean everything Lila did. Grant is perfect! Ok, so I lied he definitely has some jaw dropping qualities down under (just read) but can Lila handle HIS secret?

I couldn't put this book down. I started it and finished it the same day. This is JL's best book yet. JL is an incredible writer with talent beyond belief. There are books you read and they are just ok and then there are books you read and they are exceptionally written. JL just writes exceptionally ~ always. That is what sets her apart.

I can't wait for the next book...

Falling Stars was an amazing book. It's a book that really makes you think and also introduces you to different life styles and three very different men. After reading a few books about different life styles it really starts to peek your own interests. Which is why I love reading and learning or imagining these scenes in my head. VERY INTRIGUING STUFF! Each book I read seems to educate me in some way shape or form. All JL Brooks books entertain, thrill and excite me. This one didn't disappoint.

Lila's "encounters" with the men in this story just, well, wowed me. This book was quite an adventure. Lila's journey was a special one. Sometimes I felt like I was reading three different books because of the different scenario changes and the new sexy men we are introduced too. I personally think she should keep all three. Hunter is the toxic bad boy no good for Lila, Lorenzo is a sex god with money but leads a life that Lila couldn't keep up with and then there is Grant, oh GRANT. Grant is at the right place at the right time, if you believe in fate then these two are it. Lila just doesn't feel worthy of Grant and his kind heart. But Grant has his own secrets too. Will this be a deal breaker for Lila?

I will warn you that this book ends in a beautifully constructed cliffy. When you think all is well in Happyville, it all goes away in a instant. Ahhhhh.... JL you kill me women. I am dying like seriously going to die... The end scene is embedded in my brain.

If you didn't know this about me I like different, I like non-happy endings, I'm okay with things not going as we want because that is really how real life goes. Even though we want something doesn't mean we are going too get it. Excited to see what happens next in the Adventures of Lila!!!! Great job once again JL blows me away. This lady can write a page turner.

Lila Keaton is a writer who can’t seem to find anymore inspiration for a new book. Her agent finds an old box of souvenirs from her past that she does not want to think about ever again, but of course her agent has other plans. She pitches the idea of Lila writing her story and using her past to fuel a book that would keep everyone talking, mainly because her past deals with the most popular DJ, Hunter Michaels or Arial Assault as he is known. Hunter is thrown back into her life and Lila cannot decide what she wants to do. After rekindling, she finds out he has a girlfriend and is devastated so she basically runs away for solitude.

Enter Grant. Dreamy guy that gets Lila all hot and bothered. He’s not just easy on the eyes though; he actually cares for Lila in their short time knowing each other and ends up falling for her. Grant gets Lila out of her shell, and even has her hang out with his best friends.

“Guys like him didn’t exist, yet here he was shattering any delusions I held about what was real and what was fiction. The lines blurred and suddenly I no longer cared.”

So just when you think that you have this plot figured out as the reader, BAM J.L. Brooks knocks you back down and you are literally trying to figure out where the next turn in the book is going to go. Because Lila is a writer, you find yourself being a story within a story at some points as she is working out what she is writing. To me, this sometimes got confusing since there was so much going on. I have to say, the ending left me with my mouth open catching flies. I totally did not see that coming at all and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. I give this a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Amazing, Emotional, So moving...

When Lila Keaton sees Hunter Michaels for the first time in a very long time
at a gala her agent Diah Vogle said she had to attend. She was shocked
to say the least. Why was he here?

Hunter Michaels is a star, song writer. "It was hard to turn
on the radio and not hear one of his songs".

She was supposed to turn in a manuscript but she had nothing. Now after all this time seeing Hunter she just couldn't take it. Putting on a fake smile at the gala that's all she could do. Then she'd get out of there, but Hunter followed her.
He asked her to go back to Chicago with him..It felt like old times.
It was short lived. When he took her to the club he told her it was research for her book. Was it? Little did he know what she did. He looked into her eyes and knew. After they returned back to her hometown things went downhill. He split. She a little lost after that happened. After coming to grips of what she wanted. Well let's say she took the bulls by the horns and went after what she wanted. She had to do something and heal. Not sure if it was good or bad that was until she saw Hunter kiss someone else.

It was clear. So she drove and drove to no where in particular. That's when her life got better. She met Grant and he opened her eyes to new experiences. Happy was a great feeling, and she felt inspired and wrote a lot, and to close a chapter of her past. It was important to take charge of her life.

This book blew my mind, So different and fresh views.
Love JL Brooks. I just a little from Pink Shades of Words- Her story called
Forgetting which is coming out later this year.
This book is a must read..Highly Recommend it.

I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.

WOW I just finish reading this book, and I love it, love the characters, I have to say that this is the first book that I read from this author, and I love every single minute of it, this book got me mad at some point, this book has a little of everything it, this book is full of sex, drugs, and heart ache, I will keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.

The story begging with Lila, she is writer and right now she is struggling, to find her voice, after her last book was a smashing success, now she is getting ready to go a party dinner, from her publisher company, where she will announce her leaving the company, she all ready wrote her resigned letter and email it, two days before the party her, agent was at her apartment that's when she found the box, a box with a picture of her and one of the biggest DJ’s, Hunter Michaels AKA Arial Assault. that's when she said to write a story about them, but Lila said no that she is not gone do that, now entering where the party is being held she notice something different, she notice everyone staring at her, that's when they told her what was going on, that's when she found out that her agent when behind her back, and to top it all off she notice the one person that she haven't seen in a decade walking tour her. Hunter knew that she had no idea what was going, and they both knew that their life was about to turn up side down again.

I really love and enjoy reading this book, and now I cant wait for the second book, Author J.L. Brooks THANK YOU for introducing me to this awesome book and this amazing characters love them.

Lila has what I’ve heard some authors speak about. After having a successful book, she wonders if that was all she was capable of. Suffering from writers block and a few other stressors, Lila moves back home. Resigning after snapping from the pressure her publisher put on her, she takes off on a quest to get her head straight, and figure out what she wants to do with her life.

This is a romantic story, but it doesn’t flow as you think it might. That’s a good thing, and what intrigued me about this tale. There was a lot going on with Lila, and you’ll definitely love Grant. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but there are quite a few twists in this story. I wasn’t in love with the story as it went along, but it definitely isn’t boring, and J. L. manages to throw you off kilter.

This is my first time reading J. L. Brooks, and although this story didn’t totally blow me away, I’ll definitely be looking into her other books. I didn’t have the book hangover a couple of friends had with this, but there was enough in this story to make me want to seek out more of her writing. Some of my favorite authors didn’t always capture me from their first book; some took a couple of tries, and I’m so glad I didn’t give up. I have a feeling I’ll feel the same about J. L.

I received this ARC for an honest review, and I give it 3.5 stars.

JL Brooks kept me on the edge of my seat, this story is so much different than the rest, it has erotica, suspense and plot twists that leave your head spinning.

Oh but so worth it.

Lila's story is filled with heartache, hope and more heartache, surprises and unexpected turns. She lets go of the biggest love she ever had and gives herself a second chance with a new person.

When everything you're reading seems that it's going how you're expecting, well think again, you'll get a surprise, in my case, a gasping-heart stopping-effbombing surprise!

It gives you a perspective of an unexplored world by readers (or at least for me), about EDM, DJ's and awesome festivals you wish you could go. It's just eye opening and wonderful. JL describes landscapes in a way you can actually feel you're right there with Lila.
And it shows you that sometimes it's you who has to make the choice of let go and move on it's yours, and that it doesn't matter how hard can be, it's something you need to heal and be your own person again.

Falling Stars was a great read! It's not a fluffy sweet read, it a raw and gritty read. Lila is a writer who has a past with a now famous DJ, Hunter. Lila's agent, Dinah, wants her to write about Her relationship with Hunter. Lila wants nothing to do with it. Dinah goes behind her back and brings Hunter in. Lila and Hunter have a past that was not perfect and for a little bit her rekindle their crazy relationship.

Something happen that send Lila running. She runs into Grant. Grant is a great man. I was definitely rooting Grant. I like Hunter but Grant in much more put together.

There are some parts in the story that I never expected. Without giving anything away, there are some things that happen in Vegas that I really didn't understand at first but after reading the whole book it did make sense.

This was the first book I read by J.L. Brooks and it won' be the last. I can;t wait to read more.

I definitely recommend you read it.

"I am convinced true love is nothing more than a fairytale we are sold on as children to prolong the inevitable truth. Your heart will be shattered into a million pieces and there is nothing you can do to stop it. So why if this inescapable fate is so tortuous, do we desire it more than anything else in life?”

JL Brooks delivers an intriguing, intense, emotional read, that will move you to the core!

I feel in love with this story and was blown away by how well it was written. The story captivated me from the very first page with it's originality and left me wanting more with every page I turned.

Many times I am left feeling like I'm reading rewrites of the same story but 'Falling Stars' is diffidently not it that category.

The author beautifully wrote a story like no other. This is an amazing piece of work and I would highly recommend to all.

I will be anxiously awaiting the next book!

Wow I totally loved this book. I thoroughly loved every minute of it.

Lila is a fantastic character. She's an author. She's dealing well with her past.. That is until the past comes into the present. Hunters also dealing with his past. He's only ever loved Lila but he messed up. I was really rooting for Hunter until....... Nope you gotta 1-click to find out.

I really can't praise this book and author enough. I sat and read this in an afternoon. Even refused a trip to pub to finish it.

Wow what an ending. I really hope we don't have to wait too long for book two.

4+ stars. This book ends in a cliffhanger. Unfortunately I didn't know when I started it and while reading the story I thought it alarming that new facts were being added at the end of the book that I thought were quite important. Then..the cliffhanger! I hate cliffhangers when I am not aware of them or when the next book is not set to be released. I loved the self discovery of the main character and the whole underground world and free spirit adventure trip. Now knowing it is Vol.1 explains why the story is a bit disjointed. I look forward to the next installment.

I am not sure what words to use......
Keeps you thinking that it's going to end any moment, but nope keeps you guessing all the way. All you want is for her and Hunter to be together then you meet Grant. He is what she needs to pull herself away from her pass.
