In the wake of Hilary Clinton's disclosure that she has been diagnosed with pneumonia, Donald Trump said Monday that he has recently had a full medical exam and he will release the results shortly.

"This last week I took a physical," the Republican presidential nominee said on Fox and Friends Monday morning, and "when the numbers come in, I'll be releasing very, very specific numbers."

Trump said the incident proves that Clinton's heath "is an issue" for the campaign. He has been raising questions about her physical fitness for several weeks, suggesting that she does not have "strength or stamina."

Clinton had a coughing fit a week ago which her campaign attributed to seasonal allergies. Sunday, after she appeared to collapse while waiting to leave a 9/11 memorial ceremony in New York, the campaign announced she had been diagnosed Friday with pneumonia. Late Sunday, the Clinton campaign canceled a planned trip to California by the Democratic nominee, which had scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.

"I just hope she gets well and gets back on the trail," Trump said. "I don't know what's going on."

The Fox interview also gave Trump his first opportunity to respond directly to Clinton's comments at a fundraiser that half his supporters are a "basket of deplorables ... the racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it."

"I think it's the single biggest mistake of the political season," Trump said Monday. When a candidate is elected president, he said, "you're president of all the people. You are not president of 50% or 75%."
