8-8: The Walking Dead "How It's Gotta Be"

No episode synopsis today just an honest thank you to all of the listeners who've joined us on our post-apocalyptic tour of 'The Walking Dead'! It's been a lot of fun for both Matthew and I, and although it wasn't an easy decision to say goodbye to this podcast, we are confident it will lead to better things for us and LSG Media.

The Walking Dead "Time For After"

The Walking Dead "Time For After"

Matthew and Dean reminisce about the first time that Matthew reached out to Dean to be a guest on his solo TWD podcast, which at the time, wasn't an exclusive TWD podcast. Dean even digs up an old voicemail from Matthew to play for nostalgia. As for the episode, the lads get into Eugene, and they both agree that he was great. They heap plenty of praise onto Negan, Eugene, and Dwight. The also get into the leadership qualities of both Rick and Negan and how they affect the people that surround them.

The Walking Dead "The King, the Widow, and Rick"

The Walking Dead "The King, the Widow, and Rick"

What exactly is Rick's plan? Does it hinge on an alliance with Jadis and her junkyard pals? Why do all of the characters just run off on their own missions outside of the established plan? Is it because it makes sense or is it because the show needs them to do stuff? Does Maggie convince you that she is a leader? What's Enid up to? What was Aaron's boyfriend's name again? Is Ezekiel's "reluctant leadership" bit something we've seen before? We cover it all!

The Walking Dead "The Big Scary U"

The Walking Dead "The Big Scary U"

Matthew and Dean agree: this is the best episode of the season. They talk Goosebumps books, Negan, and Father G. The lads appreciated the insight into the inner-workings of the Saviors leadership structure. Watching the lieutenants lose control of the Sanctuary outside of Negan's influence was compelling, and although they weren't incompetent it did become apparent that without Negan the Saviors would descend into chaos.

    The Walking Dead "Some Guy"

    The Walking Dead "Some Guy"

Matthew and Dean ratchet back the criticism a little bit to shed some light onto Khary Payton who is forced out of his comfort zone to bring some actual emotion to King Ezekiel. Both Matthew and Dean agree that Zeke shines this week, and they were both pleased to see Carol getting back to some of her old ways. There are still problems with the execution of the action and the lads are forced to go back to season three to remind people of the excellent action and gun-play that once was.

    The Walking Dead "Monsters"

    The Walking Dead "Monsters"

Does 'The Walking Dead' have anything left to say? Is 8 seasons too many? Are the same conflicts (will we kill and be just like them or will we rise above it?) being trotted out again and again? Does TWD suffer from a limited setting in which to tell stories? Are there any goals worth fighting for outside of survival? Is survival enough... still? The lads go into it again, but they manage to mine two positives this week: Daryl (gasp!) and Rick.

Perfect mix of sarcasm, laughs & more!

These guys will make you laugh, full of perspective and so much cheer. Love the dork-out voices and 10th grade to grad-school-level jostling & jester!

Update -I came to this podcast after sulking over a show I and a lot of co-workers (and other people I know) used to love, scratching my head, asking “what happened?” I thought I was alone but then I found LSG’s coverage of the show. I can’t thank these guys enough for all the entertainment they provided and for their great dedication to their craft as podcasters —that led me to their other shows, sad to see this end, but I completely understand. This podcast should live on as long as The Walking Dudd does! Wait! Um, on second thought, way longer than that!

Dean is hilarious

Dude, I gotta say you guys are just frickin great. You’ve gotten me through a lot of long road trips and plane rides. I’m sad to see the podcast go.

Wow! Funny, smart, and bathroom breaks for all

Seriously, listen to this, and get notifications for the live recording. It's a hell of a party. Dean and Matthew go in-depth on each episode, and it's funny as hell. At some point, Matthew will take a break, Dean will play music, and it's a dance party break from all the death and mayhem of Morgan clearing or Negan killing innocents. Then it's back to business. This is at the top of the mountain of podcasts. We'd listen for longer, but Matthew would take even longer breaks, and Dean would need a nap.
