eDish with Commish

2011-District-CommissionerWelcome to eDish with Commish, a quick way to get some timely information out into the hands of folks who need it.

Join Me!

eDish is a companion to a new casual gathering I am calling "Dish with Commish" which will be held on the 4th Saturday of each month. This month we will gather at the Panera Bread on SR 434 in Longwood starting at 8:30 a.m. until about 10:00 a.m.  This will be an informal, "come as you are," dutch treat, chance for scouters to get some questions answered by a member of their District Key 3. Feel free to pass this along to any of your unit leaders who may be interested in attending.

Our next "Dish" will be held Saturday, August 27th.

Popcorn Kick-off Today!

Don't forget that today, at 4 locations across the Orlando Metro area will be kick-offs for the 2011 Popcorn Season. Your unit must have an attendee at one of these kick-offs in order to get the highest percentage of commission for your unit.

The Kick-offs will be held at:
  • Wet & Wild - 8:00am
  • Orlando Science Center - 10:30am
  • Brevard Zoo - 2:30pm
  • Daytona Beach Police Department - 6:00pm
Some important upcoming dates:
September 8: 1st Order Deadline for Take Order/Show & Sale (Submit Online).
September 23/24: 1st Order Pickup

School Nights in Full Swing

School Nights are happening all over Seminole County. Randy and the membership team are at schools during the day handling morning announcements, passing out flyers, and encouraging the next generation of Scouts to join us.

We hope all Pack Leaders will help with the school nights in your area. You should have received an email from Randy back in July with your specific school nights, and activities for you to do that night.

If you don't know when you specific school night is scheduled, feel free to contact me.

Fall IOLS & SM/ASM Position Specific Training

Yes! There will be an IOLS course conducted this Fall by the Seminole Springs Training Team.

The course will be held the weekend of September 23rd, at will  be at the newly remodeled Group camp site at La-No-Che.

Combine that with the Scoutmaster & Assistant position specific training on Saturday October 8th, and you can quickly become a "trained" Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster!

(Of course, there are other courses being held this fall by other districts as well, if these dates don't work for you - you can get that information from the Central Florida Council web site.)

Chartered Organization Representatives, too!

Just announced at Roundtable, there will be a training for CoRs at the October 8th District Training Day.

This would be a great opportunity to get your CoR trained before the required training kicks in 2012.

Cub Leaders, Varsity and Venturing

Other training classes that will be offered on October 8th:

Cubmaster & Assistant
Den Leader & Assistant
Pack Committee
Pack Trainer
Varsity Coach / Committee (will be in the afternoon)
Venturing Advisor / Committee

So, something for everyone. Sign-up and we'll look forward to seeing you on October 8th!
